2012

Peter Jackson returns to Middle-Earth, this time adapting J.R.R. Tolkein’s The Hobbit. Originally set to be split into just two films, it was revealed earlier this month that there will now be THREE instalments. Seems like an awful lot for a reasonably short book, but the director reportedly had enough footage in order to stretch it out a little further and it’s thought that he may even delve into some of Tolkein’s other books in order to bridge the gap between these films and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

2013

He’s baaaack! After the underwhelming mess that was Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, it looks as if Zack Snyder will be the man who finally does the iconic DC character justice. With the promise of plenty of action, an incredible cast and a storyline which will be less of a throwback to the classic Superman movies and more like what fans love from the comics, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see this reboot end up becoming THE best comic book movie of 2013. The SDCCon footage and trailer has everyone VERY excited...

2014

It’s not exactly a surprise that the crowd at the San Diego Comic-Con erupted in cheers when the title of the Captain America: The First Avenger sequel was announced at the event last month. That’s right, Sebastian Stan will return as The Winter Soldier! The choice of a directing duo in the form of the Russo Brothers (You Me And Dupree, Community) is understandably worrying many, although there are still plenty of other reasons to be excited, including the recent news that Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment Bureau) has signed up to play The Falcon.

In-Development

After the recent news that The Gangster Squad scribe has penned a script which will put all of DC’s iconic superheroes in one film, it was also recently revealed that Warner Bros. have approached Ben Affleck with an offer to direct, although recent reports indicate that The Wachowskis (The Matrix) may be in talks. A 2015 release is rumoured, but not confirmed.

@Mrcool210 - Actually, it does have a comic book. So does LOTR. Google it :)

Personally, I'm most excited for Man of Steel and Kick Ass 2. Anything else...well, we'll see.

I pretty sure I voted this:

2012
LOTR

2013
MOS

2013
GOTG

Rumored
JL

Honestly though, GOTG is my top one I'm looking forward to right now. Haters don't hate unless you read the books. It's going to be mind blowing. I think another reason why I'm looking forward to them the most is because it's something we haven't ever seen before.

I'd be more excited to see MOS, but since Nolan is attached as a producer (whom has the most creative control of a movie), I'm not interested.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier / Guardians of the Galaxy

Man of Steel is of course the greatest event in 2013, followed by Iron-Man 3 and Thor 2: TDW.
Cosmic1
Cosmic1 - 8/28/2012, 6:25 AM
If they make dead pool it will bomb at the box office only comic fans would go see this and with the amount and type of violence necessary i don't think many parents will take there kids to see it. Man of steel doesn't look that exciting either looks like they tried to hard or it's an episode of deadliest catch.

Didn't the Moat Disappointing Poll pretty much show that the polls here are pretty meaningless?

Until the new poll system is in place I'll refrain from voting, but The Hobbit, MoS and the Marvel Studio movies I'm looking forward to the most. A little nervous about Days of Future Past - it could be really good or, it being Fox, it may well be yet another great comics story murdered by Hollywood. Looking forward to seeing which.

Man of Steel's definitely OWNS as THE most eagerly anticipated movie of next summer. Hobbit 2 woulda been it, but since it now becomes the MIDDLE installment instead of the FINALE, the anticipation might've lessened a bit. i sure was disappointed that jackson chose to STRETCH it into three parts.

as for 2014..CA: Winter Soldier got the spot for me, though i still think, marvel shoulda waited on RE-introducing Bucky til the third Cap solo movie, after avengers 2. they could do so many OTHER things with the second Cap movie, like more on the SHIELD main characters, like Fury, Widow and Barton (IF there WON'T be a SHIELD movie or a solo widow/hawkeye flick), then there're Cap's modern day supports, like Sharon, Sam/Falcon and his other enemies, Lady Hydra, Strucker, Zemo, etc... there's just NO place for Bucky, YET, in the second movie.

after he's awaken at the end of his first movie and the first Avengers, we still haven't got the FULL picture on how Cap was discovered, thawed and informed on his family and friends (most of whom had passed away, surely)...and all that should've been prioritized in the second chapter of his solo outing.

with this decision, i still hope marvel would surprise us by actually doing a SHIELD stand-alone movie, between next year and the release of Avengers 2.

Seems accurate. Man of Steel, TASM 2, Thor 2 & Cap 2 for me.

Not going to see Man of Steel because Nolan produces? Yeah Nolan was always a Liquid Swords/solo albums Wu fan that used his disgust of Ol' Dirty's passing to make his films less comicbook-like. :D

"@SageMode You're not interested in MOS cause Nolan's involve? Give me a break, he wrote the "story" and that's his only role (producer) let it go".

Do you even know what you're talking about? A film producer pretty much sets the overall tone and vision of a movie. A director just brings the producers' vision through their style of presentation.

Producer > Director > Screenwriter

Did anyone who voted Dredd actually watch the trailer? It was god awful. This year im most excited for Skyfall closely followed by The Hobbit (never got into LoTR but always wanted to) and with CBM's
Man of Steel > Avengers 2> Ironman 3> Thor:TDW/CA:TWS> Ant-Man/GoTG>>>>>>>> trailers>>>>> The wolverine
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 8/28/2012, 7:04 AM
But the margin between IM3 and Thor:TDW/Captain America:TWS is VERY small. IM3 is the last contracted RDJ/Marvel film (even though im SURE it will get renewed) the culmination of a trilogy, a miletone of the MCU as well as it sets the stage for Phase 2 much like IM1 did for phase 1. Its actually crazy to think that the chara, ter that kicked all tis off is in a way almost done, im sure he wll appear in avengers films and maybe a cameo here or there but there is a good chance this wil be his last solo outing to make way for other franchises... at least for a while anyway

Dynamo - 8/28/2012, 7:13 AM
@SageMode
If you had paid attention to production you would've known that Nolan has been too bust with TDKR to play a large role in MOS.
Logan5
Logan5 - 8/28/2012, 7:29 AM
I believe Nolan was quoted as saying that he was pleased with the MOS film he had prepped and from that point on it would be Snyder's film.

Will be very pleased to see Wright's take on Ant-Man!
