COMICS: Beast Set To Undergo ANOTHER Transformation In Marvel NOW!'s ALL-NEW X-MEN?

When Grant Morrison launched New X-Men over a decade ago, he made the controversial decision to have Beast undergo a secondary mutation which gave the character a more feline appearance. Well, if the following preview is anything to go by, he's about to get another new look...

Fans have never been overly fond of Beast's feline look, and even some artists have drawn Hank McCoy in such a way that he has an appearance far closer to that of the pre-New X-Men version. Well, the following script excerpt and preview from Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen's All-New X-Men #1 (which comes directly from Marvel.com) seem to indicate that the iconic character is set to undergo yet another mutation! Check it out below and be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Yeah, whatever.
At least this is a step BACK in the right direction. Now artists can draw as The Beast as close as they want to, to the old McCoy.

I like the feline look from astonishing that has the ears on top. Lets the artist use feline expressions which i think are very effective at conveying emotions

He's drawn differently by different artists. Some exaggerate the feline look to the point he is a blue lion on two legs - others still have him close to the older look. I like the change.

Dont care what he looks like in the face, this is one of my most anticipated titles.

The look for Beast is decent. Either way, I'm looking forward to the All New X-Men title.

I really like the Feline/Thundercat look, I hope this isn't a 1 step forward 2 steps back moment and he ends up look ridiculous.

Even though I'm fine with this creative team, I still dream of the day where Jonathan Hickman & Oliver Coipel do an X-Men book.

I like the feline Beast as well but this is also a good look.

I loved the big blue cat he became. Had a hard time using his fingers. Its was interesting. I hated how Jim Lee always made him look like he and Wolverine had the same hair. The cat-like look seemed hard to draw.

I like Feline Beast! It's well, more beastial and that actually made him not look like a blue hairy wolverine. I can see something inbetween the two though.

When I first started reading Marvel, normal-faced Beast of the Avengers and Defenders is the Beast that I learned to love, so I'm actually VERY ok with this. Another name for this face reminds me of what I called him in X3: Frasier Beast.

I don't really care how he looks (though I loved the way that Cassiday drew his feline look), I'm just sick to death of writers going through the same shit with Hank.

I mean, how many times is he going to do some experiment to change the way he looks only to have it go horribly wrong and make him go through yet another story arc about accepting who he is deep down or whatever? Haven't we done that enough? Is Bendis so bereft of ideas that he can't think of anything else to do with this character that hasn't already been done several times in the past 4 or 5 decades?

And if he DID want to get rid of his beast-like appearance, he should still have that cure developed by Dr. Rao in Astonishing X-Men. Why would he do whatever the hell he's doing in this page?

And if it really does just amount to "Immonen prefers to draw Beast the old way," then he could have just drawn the old Beast and no one would have really been bothered. That's basically what they did during Warren Ellis' run on Astonishing X-Men.

Then again, maybe he should just suck it up and accept that characters change. I'm really getting tired of this trend of so-called professional artists and writers insisting on writing and drawing characters the way THEY remember them from when THEY loved comics, completely disregarding character continuity and progression in the process.

Cat beast reminded me of Ron pearlmans TV beast. I like the blue ape looking original, as long as they don't change his color to RED.

Always hated the cat looking beast of the last decade or so. Looks like someones pet. I would welcome a return to the version they used back in the 70's when he first mutated to the grey\blue hairy looking beast. Even something that goes back from there to almost his natural human looking state would be an improvement over the grrranimal he's been depicted as lately. Something like a cross between his original state and halfway to the hairy version might be cool.

@GLPrme- Now there is an idea. Let's change his color to, let's say, red. Now give him an edgy attitude. Red Beast we will call him. Maybe team him with our other edgy characters like Wolverine, Punisher, and Deadpool (because edgy people like the company of more edgy people). Now Red Beast is too long of a name. What about Reast? Reast will be as Poochy was to Itchy & Scratchy.

the art is completely different from the script, seriously WTF!

i liked the cat look when it was drawn right.

it really doesn't bode well for this title when Bendis is changing something so major as early as the first issue.

Thank God they changed him back to a more human look! The beast was always more of a brute in appearance not a cat. That cat look was frickin' ridiculous .

Well artists are iffy. Some turn him into a damn lion or a kitty cat while others try to merge the cat and the original beat look. Here I would think this is just his original blue form but more human.

Also I think artist has forgotten that in this form Beast have 4 fingers and not 5.
