Bryan Singer's JACK THE GIANT KILLER Gets A New Title And Release Date

Taking the slot previously held by Neill Blomkamp's Elysium, Bryan Singer's (Superman Returns) Jack The Giant Killer has a new release date. Oh, and it actually has a new title as well. Hit the jump for details!

Warner Bros. have announced that Jack The Giant Killer Slayer will now hit theatres three weeks earlier than expected on March 1st, 2013. It was originally set to be released on the 22nd of that month, but has moved up to take Elysium's spot after that (and the RoboCop remake) were pushed back by Sony Pictures. The new title doesn't make a HUGE difference, but it arguably distances it somewhat from the well-known fairy tale. However, it's thought that the studio also consider "Slayer" to be more family-friendly than "Killer". Despite the tepid response to the teaser trailer (which can be viewed below), the film has a great cast which includes the likes of Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci.

Jack the Giant Killer Slayer tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

Looks better than I thought it would.... Bryan Singers credentials only include X-Men 1 and nothing else! lol

The guy playing Jack is VERY unattractive, I don't know if I can look at that for 2 hours. Doesn't make me wanna go that's for sure.

Notice they didn't show the giants? Leaving a but of mystery to gauge interest.

Killer implies that Jack is doing something wrong by ending the lives of these giants. Slayer implies that he is doing some honorable duty killing monsters. He's still a killer either way.

The Usual Suspects, Apt Pupil, X-Men, X2, Superman Returns, Valkyrie...

The only Singer's stumble was Supes Returns - if you can consider a US$ 400 million worldwide box-office a real stumble - the movie costed US$ 200 million!

I'll definitely see this, Killer or Slayer!!!

As remakes go, it's more Jack and the Beanstalk than Jack the Giant Killer. It resembles nothing of the original movie!

the tittle sound like a spin of to buffy the vampire slayer, the pitch to fox would be: "think buffy.... but with giants instead of vampires!"

Good. The former title made the movie sound like it was about a 7-foot tall homicidal maniac anyways.

If Star Wars was being made now Chewbacca would be "Chewgumma" and be wearing shorts and a tank top.
