UPDATE: Dominic Cooper To Play JAMES BOND Creator Ian Fleming In Four Part Biopic
We cover the James Bond films here on CBM quite regularly, but an upcoming four part biopic from Sky Atlantic will see Dominic Cooper play 007's creator during WWII as he embarked on the adventures which would ultimately give him the inspiration to create the character.
Variety reports that Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger, The Devil's Double) is set to play Ian Fleming in a Sky Atlantic four part biopic which is provisionally entitled Fleming. According to the site, it is set during WWII when Fleming was hired by British Naval intelligence to take part in an undercover campaign against the Nazis. It was these adventures which ultimately gave him inspiration to create the now iconic British spy, James Bond, in 1953's Casino Royale. Similar to the character, Fleming was also known for his womanising and taste for alcohol, so it should make for a very interesting story! "Stepping into the shoes of the spy who not only created the enigmatic character of 007, but who fantasized about being him has to be every actor's dream," Cooper said in a statement. Be sure to stay tuned for more details on the series!
UPDATE: Deadline has now revealed that Snow White and the Huntsman and The Tudors star Annabelle Wallis has been cast as 'Muriel Wright', "a woman with whom Fleming had a love affair and who some believe to be the original inspiration for the Bond Girl."
