MAN OF STEEL: Henry Cavill And Zack Snyder Discuss Romance With Lois Lane, Flight And More

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and star Henry Cavill refuse to give too much away when asked about Clark Kent and Superman's romantic relationship with Lois Lane, while David Goyer discusses how flight will be handled in this "grounded" take on the character.

"That is hard to answer," Man of Steel director Zack Snyder told Empire in the latest issue of the magazine when asked about the romantic elements of the film. As fans of the comic books and past live-action interpretations of Superman will already know, the romantic relationship between Clark Kent and Lois Lane has always been a key part of the mythos, so what makes this such a difficult question to answer? "That gives a bit of the DNA of the movie away. Suffice to say, whether it is Superman or Kal-El or Clark Kent, we wanted to make him cooler. You'll have to wait and see the why of it. [Amy Adams] is everything you would hope for from Lois Lane."

Superman actor Henry Cavill was equally as tight-lipped about whether we will see Lois and Clark hooking up on the big screen this summer. "I can't talk about that too much. I don't want to be giving away the idea of the film too early, but Amy is a great actress, very professional, a pleasure to work with..." Talk then turned to another big aspect of the movie; flight. With numerous mentions of a realistic and grounded take on the character, does this mean that a big chunk of Man of Steel will be taken up with explanations of how it all works? "We worked out things for our own purposes," said writer David Goyer. "But that is not that important. It's interesting that he doesn't know how he flies. He didn't grow up on Krypton."

This a sentiment echoed by Cavill. "The tricky thing is there is a sense of awe and also a sense of being frightened." This can't have been easy for the actor, especially as Snyder goes on to reveal in the magazine that he used little to no wire work in the movie as he instead decided that "Superman cannot do anything that is not visual effects" (their words, not Snyder's). The director also reportedly made the decision to film a lot of the movie with handheld cameras. Be sure to share your thoughts on all this in the usual place!

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

So Cavill's motions will most likely be CGI?

I hope they did some tests of him moving cuz I'm afraid it would look too lifeless.

And obviously Superman & Lois hook up in the film, we saw them kissing in the trailer. Either the last one or the Comic Con one, but they definitely kiss.

Could it be that Lois knows Clarke & Superman are same!

So she's aware that KAL-EL, CLARKE & SUPERMAN are all 1!

So stop wasting time around our rom-com circus; & do some shit!

U know; Do romance! Do Fight! Do Punching! Do Flying or almost Beaming... All cool & good stuff!

They're changing lots of stuff so I woudn't be surprised if they cut that Clarke-Lois-Superman triangle crazyness after 2 mins!

I want scene like the one in Green Lantern (not a great movie but the scene!) when GL arrives at the balcony of ... Blake Lively & she take 4 seconds to recognise (with an eye-patch-mask) that he's Hal!
Maybe Pulitzer Award winner can do it this time!!

@tea: damn always bringin the goods

@Jollem: I don't have a problem with cam moves. I play video games and no problem with the cam movement during that long shot of the whole team fighting in Avengers.

What I have a problem with is Blair Witch and Cloverfield type cams. The ones where it looks like some guy shot it with his personal vid cam while running. Those piss me off. And kinda make me sick

I looking forward to seeing their take on Clark Kent.

I know some people hate the fact the glasses work, but I have never minded them, as imagine a world where a concept of secret identities doesn't exist, and a god appears on Planet Earth, would you think that said God, walks around working for a media agency?

A recent JL comic summed it up by saying they are not noticed as no one is looking at them, even if looked a like the idea that Superman would act like the us of us would seem absurd.

Around the time Superman Returns came out they had a special on TV, can't remember what network, but it was called The Science of Superman, or something to that effect.

In in they attempted to scientifically explain how Superman does what he does on Earth.

They basicall say that the gravity of Krypton was much stronger than ours, making his molecular structure more dense and what not, making him super strong, and being able to defy our gravity.

They explain the freeze breath with the same logic. We have the ability, as humans, to make our breath cold, so because he is stronger than us, his is just "suped up".

can't remember how they explain the heat vision.

Anyway, if you can wrap your head around the idea of an alien coming to Earth, you shouldn't have a problem with how they try to explain his powers.

Hey guys, any Ideas on how will they approach Clark Kent as unrecognizable as superman in 'Man of Steel? I saw it on ComicCon that he wears glasses but are they gonna add more to Clark so he won't look like Superman?
