Chris Pine Shares His Thoughts On J.J. Abrams Helming STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

The Star Trek Into Darkness actor shares his thoughts on J.J. Abrams helming Star Wars: Episode VII for Disney, but says he will be disappointed if the director doesn't return for a third instalment of Star Trek. And what are the chances of a cameo for Captain Kirk in Abrams' new franchise?

Talking to USA Today, Chris Pine has spoken out on the announcement that J.J. Abrams has signed up to helm Star Wars: Episode VII for Disney and Lucasfilm. However, while he's excited to see what the director does with that franchise, he's determined to bring him back for a third Star Trek...by any means necessary! "The only way I'll be disappointed is if he doesn't direct our third movie," he said. "I think if that turns out to be the case we'll have to kidnap him and hold him hostage until he agrees to do a third." However, the actor -who plays Captain James T. Kirk in the rebooted Star Trek franchise - was quick to wish his collaborator all the best and reiterated his excitement about what Abrams has in store for George Lucas' creations. "From my standpoint, J.J. is a science-fiction genius. To have him over in the Star Wars camp is going to be a great thing. I'm sure it's going to be a great film." Oh, and what are the odds of a cameo for Kirk in Star Wars? "Now you're really playing with fire," he laughed. "I wouldn't say that even lightly."

@Claire- And yet you're most likely going to be seeing the new trek film anyways, riiiiight. Tough words there.

I always preferred Trek over Wars. But I loved the Ewoks as a kid and if J.J can bring in the Ewoks I'm good.

The burning question of the century now

Captain Kirk or Han Solo

Yoda or Spock

Darth Maul or Khan

Princess Leia or Uhuru

R2 D2 & C-3PO or Chekov & Sulu

@Kamen- Dammit...if it came between those women...I'd go with Wars.

I hate when people capitalize on my weakness for women

@BrotherStark-

Kirk over Han

Spock over Yoda

Darth Maul over Khan (hey Maul is a total badass, double headed light saber, [frick] yeah)

Uhura over Leia (I never liked Carey Fisher sp?)

R2 D2 and C-3PO over Chekov and Sulu

So for me it was...

Star Trek- 3

Star Wars- 2

@Claire- I love the 2nd vid you posted for the trek/wars trailer mashup. My only problem was the beginning when Yoda's voice first popped up, it was hella surprising and grungy :( but overall great video!

Amok Time was good because it really pushed the boundaries of the Kirk/Spock friendship.

I still want those duo-figures from Amok Time. I have Kirk in his dress uniform toy though. I collect toys still... -_-

I'm a fan of both, but I always tell my son (a big Star Wars fan) that watchin' Star Trek is like watchin' King Kong and watchin' Star Wars is like watchin' Curious George....or.... watchin' Star Trek is like watchin' Jurassic Park and watchin' Star Wars is like watchin' Barney....or.... watchin' Star Trek is like watchin' Godzilla and watchin' Star Wars is like watchin' the Geico Gecko, well you see my point haha
