STAR WARS Spin-Off's Are NOT Confirmed Just Yet; Disney "Kicking Around Ideas"

Despite recent reports that the likes of Boba Fett, Han Solo and Yoda will be getting their own Star Wars spin-off's, a reliable source now indicates that Disney are in fact only "kicking around ideas", casting doubt on the reliability of these rumours. Read on for details!

Despite Disney CEO Bob Iger himself confirming that the studio are working on a series of Star Wars spin-off's which will stand separate to the planned trilogy (that kicks off with J.J. Abrams' Episode VII in 2015), it sounds as if we should hold our horses wookies! According to the ever reliable Deadline, the recent reports of movies starring beloved characters such as Boba Fett and Han Solo are premature. Their sources tell them, "Nobody knows when these movies are even coming out. Right now, people are just kicking around ideas. Which is why you hear it’s Yoda one day and a young Han Solo another. It’s all in early development right now." So, it seems as if we should definitely take these rumours with a pinch of salt as these movies are clearly - and perhaps obviously - in the very, VERY early stages of being made. Stay tuned for further updates.

I call bull. I think it's just Deadlien trying to stick their oar in and debunk some other sites. So we're supposed to believe that Iger was lying? And that her their anonymous source is the one we should listen to? Nah

I think Deadline are probably spot on with this. Disney are probably just leaking random names to gauge the reaction from fans.

@JoshWilding, it's happening regardless of our reactions.

"Don't know why people are shocked about these Star Wars spin-off films. Disney bought characters, plan has always been to exploit/market

It would be great if they could tell wholly original tales with original characters in this awesome universe, but not their first priority

When Disney bought Marvel, they made it clear they bought the company for the characters, not to make new superhero characters in the world"

Oh yeah, they'll definitely happen regardless of what WE say if Disney think they can make a profit off 'em, but I don't think it's any coincidence that the Yoda/Fett/Solo reports came from fanboy friendly websites like AICN and EW rather than trades like Variety and THR. Personally, I hope they happen, although I could definitely live without a Yoda spin-off!

Spin off ideas don't sound appealing.

Also I find it HILARIOUS how some fans actually want Harrison ford to return as a young Han Solo. They just think that technology can make him look young. LOL...like that's gunna happen. Because thats what we all want to see...a 70 year old guy with CGI plastic face to try to make him look young.

Fett is interesting BECAUSE he's a mystery. Also, if you reall look at his costume for the original movies...yikes. Honestly, it looks like they just through something together. Don't get me wron, I like Fett, I like him just as he is, a supporting cast member. LikeI've said before, I dont need to know every single detail of a character to enjoy them. Sometimes more is less. The same can be said for Han. Besides, for the most part, we know their stories.

SW sories that WOULD be interesting:
Shadows, Thrawn, Rogue Squadron, Jedi Academy, Old Republic, Jedi twins, etc.

SW are large sweeping stories that include a large number of characters. Its took, what 6 movies to tell the story of Anakin's life. 6, and look at all the supporting characters we were exposed to. Be realistic, you can't and certaintly shouldnt devote entire movies to a single SW character. If you do, you're gonna fail, you're gonna be pissed off because they weren't respectful, or missed some aspect of their life that was important to you. If you stories like that, do what most people do, pick up these things called books and read about your favorite characters.

-just my two cents-
