Deadline reports that AMC is developing Ballistic City, a futuristic sci-fi drama from director Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy). As well as helming the first episode, he will executive produce the series alongside writer Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim). According to the site, "Ballistic City is described as "Blade Runner meets Battlestar Galactica" and tells the story of a former cop thrust into the criminal underworld of a city housed in a generational space ship destined for an unknown world." It sounds like an interesting premise and sci-fi fans will surely be glad to hear that a series like this is heading to the small screen. Apparently, Ballistic City is being eyed as a companion on Sunday night's with The Walking Dead. Stay tuned to CBM for further details!

Well, what about doing "Something new meets something new" huh?

Personally, i didn't like Kosinsky, everything he do is something "inspired" from something other, in tron legacy, the movie was made just by costumists and SFX techs...a very little number of scenes had a good directing, and the whole movie was a remake of the original tron for new generations disguised as a sequel....sooo...nope.

just try something new. Whedon did it with firefly, the only thing resembling it was Cowboy Bebop, but the tone was really, really different!

I actually like the idea. PLUS Kosinsky is yet to disappoint.Oblivion looks very good. And I'm not sure I've heard anywhere that it was inspired by another movie. It's an original idea from his graphic novel that never saw the light of day.

BSG already met Bladerunner when they introduced skin jobs.

Hey, Oblivion is a good movie, true science fiction, it´s not for G.I. Joers...silly action and silly characters...

Does this sound good to me? It sure does! :D

Although I'm just not interested in watching Oblivion. Somehow the trailers completely fail to excite me, and then there's Tom Cruise...

I hate when they try to compare other sci fi with Blade Runner to try to convince us it will be good!

@ Captain Spain,

Hey, I like G.I.Joe. But I also happen to lke qualty science fiction films like Moon and District 9. Thinking people can only like one kind of movie is silly...

Blade Runner meets Battlestar? Woooo...that's quite a claim. I'll keep my eye out for this though.

RPD, the original BSG was disco space garbage. Take of your kiddie glasses made with nostalgia. Next thing you will be telling us that the original Power Rangers was the best science fiction since 2001 ASO.

I'm looking forward to this. We haven't have enough scifi done on an Ark like ship. The closest recently was Pandorum.

More Tron please. If you can't get Daft Punk back, you have my permission to use Trent Reznor.

RPD- I grew up watching the old BSG and loved it. That being said the new BSG wad a revelation up until the utterly contrived, stupid, and disappointing finale.
