CHRONICLE's Michael B. Jordan In Talks To Play 'The Human Torch' In THE FANTASTIC FOUR

It sounds as if Josh Trank will be reuniting with Chronicle's Michael B. Jordan for The Fantastic Four as the African American actor who received acclaim for his role in that movie is said to be in talks to play Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Read on for details!

According to The Wrap, Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, House, Red Tails) is in talks to play the Human Torch in Josh Trank's upcoming reboot of the franchise, The Fantastic Four. While 20th Century Fox has declined to comment on this news, "numerous individuals" close to the production have reportedly told the site that the actor has had multiple meetings with the studio and has a good relationship with the director after their work together on Chronicle. His chances now depend on whether or not he has chemistry with the other young actors who are in contention for the movie. Of course, this sheds doubt on the recent reports that Alison Williams has been courted to play The Invisible Woman as it wouldn't make an awful lot of sense if she and Jordan played brother and sister! Regardless, Jordan is a fantastic actor, although it's possible that this decision may cause controversy among the small group of fans who reacted negatively to Idris Elba being cast as Heimdall in Thor or Laurence Fishburne as Perry White in Man of Steel! Interestingly, the site also adds that the film has not yet been given the green light...

I love this guy, and since I can kind of tolerate race changes in CBM's nowadays, I'd say that I'm confident that he can pull off a very cool Johnny Storm. But...yeah, not trying to be racist, or whatever, but isn't Allison Williams already likely going to be Sue? I mean, how...well, to put it simply: If the two aren't siblings in this movie, then that's all for me.

Either Sue is also black or one of them is adopted. I don't typically mind race changes, but if he and sue are actually siblings, I don't really care for them changing half of the fantastic 4. If they aren't biological siblings then I don't mind torch not being white, however sue and johnny not being related will have to be done well in order for me to like it

While this is still speculation...I think this is a terrible move from the standpoint of Fox has already ruined the FF in two films. They want ppl to get onboard for this reboot and they pull some sh!t like this??? Race isn't the issue. It's about loyalty and respect at this point and this is a direct slap in the face to all FF fans in general. Yet another reason why Fox sucks.

we have no idea how the story will be written so before the complaining starts let's see what they'll do. an the article says in talks .................. smh

this is like when they where thinking about changing bond black if it works for the story then watch the move before judging
rather have great actors , then a gov on the street who has nic cage acting abilities an isn't believable in his role

Easy fix by having either different mother or father and being half brother and half sister. Being raised apart would explains why there so not alike and would set up some back story.

Make Nick Fury black. Cool. Perry White. Thats fine. Johnny Storm? GFY! No way in hell. To me Fury and White are not main stream. Comic book fans know them but your average person doesnt. At least not as much as they know Superman and Spiderman. But to be Fan Four and the Tourch are in the same boat as Captain America and the A listers. So Michael B. Jordan is a fine actor, get him a role in something, but not as the blue eye, playboy, good looking, blonde hair, HOT head. No No F No.

Comparing this casting to that of a white black panther is completely stupid. His race in no way defines his character because much like Jamie fox's Electro, he is an AMERICAN. And That is all he has to be. It would be no different from changing his hair color. Its 2013 people get with the times!!!
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 5/2/2013, 5:49 AM
Well, if it's truly the only way, then I'm actually fine with them being adopted siblings, than nothing all! That way, a certain intriguing spin on their relationship could be brought up, too.

Nothing would matter if they can get Adam Baldwin as Ben, though.
