Could This Be Our First Glimpse At A New STAR WARS Animated Series?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars may be coming to an end, but Disney XD do reportedly have plans to continue exploring galaxy far, far away in another animated series of some sort. Has supervising director Dave Filoni inadvertently offered us our first look at it?

IGN Movies spotted the following Facebook post by Star Wars: The Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni, and as they point out, it seems likely that the reason for this sketch is because he's working on a new series of some sort for Disney (he has in fact already confirmed that he is part of the team developing that project). Many are already speculating that this series will take place between the events of Episode VI and Episode VII, filling in the gap between the two different trilogies. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

If it pans out as true and is part of the Tie era, than cool.

Already getting so tired of the squeezing of infinite tales into the very small Star Wars galaxy where everyone is related to Skywalkers.

These guys have a chance to do something fresh in the SW universe without heaping more tenuous junk on the Skywalker family ties. I hope they take that chance and tell another story unrelated to the characters George has systematically turned into the dumbest idiots ever to make it into space.

FOR REAL!!! This will be AMAZING! I have complete faith in the team @ Star Wars animated. In my vision they are dedicated to the cause as Clone Wars made a clean slate of events in between STAOTC & STROTS which was a privalege to see. The start of season four of the clone wars took a pinicle turn as the sea battle took place! ;-)

Didn't the Force Unleashed fill in the gaps between the two?

It was originally stated that the new cartoon series would focus on a time rarely touched on in the SW timeline. We have tons of EU stories that take place after episode 6 so I'm hoping this will be during the time of the Old Republic and focusing on the Jedi/Sith wars.

@DrRockit13: as I understand it, The Force Unleashed happened between film "Episodes" 3 & 4, or the prequels and the original trilogy. This would hypothetically take place between 6 & 7, or fill in the gap between the original trilogy and the sequel Abrams is directing for Disney.

Hopefully this will be post-trilogy(you know which one...the only Star Wars trilogy that actually exists). The designs are cool but not too revealing, as long as it doesn't look as cartoony as that Clone Wars show,I'm ok with it.

I agree with Newbus - It looks like a concept sketch for a stop motion boom rig.

There are soo many stories they can tell, but central to most, if not all good Star Wars stories are the Jedi vs sith including ancillary characters that help each sides cause.

How can you be sick of the Jedi? That's like saying your a fan of batman but you wish he wasn't a crime fighter anymore...

Bring on more Jedi stories - for me I would love to see and old republic story about the original Jedi masters and how they started.

@LEVITIKUZ I think we need to slow down. EA has made some bad games, but they've made some good games too. And don't forget that they own Bioware, so we could get another awesome KOTOR game.

Clone Wars was going to end sometime or another. Lets be honest, Clone Wars was not going to last 9-10 seasons. I think they did all they could at this point.

A Han Solo movie could work, because he has a nice backstory, and is a likable character. I didn't think a Boba Fett movie could work, but then I saw Dredd, so it can work. I scratched my head at a Yoda movie, but the latest Planet of the Apes movie proves that you make a movie based off a CGI character and make it work.

Star Wars movie EVERY year? I think we should wait and see how that pans out before we pass judgement.

So is this going to be 3D style or

I hope this series is as good as the Clone Wars if not better.

They should call Genndy Tartakovsky to make another 2D animation linking episodes 6 and 7...
That first Clone Wars animation was way better than this new one.

I agree with LEVI, disney's making too many movies. I do have faith in filoni and I think this is a new show that will be great. No matter what anyone says filoni's work is whats kept the franchise alive and built upon it after the prequels.

@LEVITIKUZ If EA is the worst company in the world, that would make it seem like the world is doing a good job. Because despite their many crappy games, EA has made good ones too. I think we are too pissed at them for some of their past (and few recent) decisions, that we forget why EA is the most known video game company in America.

The Clone Wars was a great show. I don't like that it got ended. But at least it didn't end after one season like some shows.

We can still get the original stuff, but would it really hurt to re-visit some classic character origins in their prime?

A Star Wars movie every year, I don't think that means The Big Star Wars movie. They'll have spin-offs, or Origin Stories, but the big movies will be coming out later is how I'm interpreting it.

@Nibs surprisingly, that is actually fan made.
