Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Offers Up A Glimpse Of His Transformation Into HERCULES

Based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, the Brett Ratner helmed film is a fresh take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist. For that reason, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's appearance as the titular character is also set to be pretty "grounded" and he has offered up a first look at his transformation via his Twitter account.

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend. Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

Hercules without the mythos? Why?

Interesting they're taking the, dare I say, "Nolan" approach to this. I'm assuming they seen disregarding the mystical entirely, just alluding to it and not showing it. Could be good..

A Hercules without the mythology aspect is like Superman without his super powers, what's the point?

Funny, this is a CBM site where we are supposed to understand films that are based on comic books and graphic novels. This film is based on a graphic novel and not the Greek Mythos. Why weren't people complaining in the same way about Thor?

Haters! He's too lean, I think,for anyone to assume roids, why, when any actor is, or gets, huge, skinny twerps cry roids? It's his bread and butter to be huge. It was as a wrestler and it is now as an actor. He has nothing but time and money to put towards that body. We work 8 hours a day. He works out has a trainer and a massive wallet to afford the most expensive diets. How is it so hard to believe that a Samoan/black man that is around 6'3" or taller is naturally a large man?

@ager

They like to judge people because they are fat, lazy slobs who sit on their computers all day in their mother's basement. Thats the only reason. Envy is a sin nerds.

Anyway Dwayne looks awesome and Im looking forward to it. Not sure about Ratner though.
