Sure, Orlando, the elves steal the show ... that Legolas was a real barrel of laughs and the elf that popped up at the end of the second one and then died was a truly ICONIC character.

Every time I catch one of these films I feel like I am watching a repeat of what I already saw.

Didn't the Eagles save the day again in the last one?

They're starting to seem a bit redundant.

I like how PJ is more convincing as a dwarf in street clothes than the actors wearing special clothing and makeup to give the illusion that they are small.

bropous:

For someone who claims to be both an academic (particularly of the literary ilk) and an enthusiast of Tolkien's novels, you seem to have a difficult time with the most basic of information... you misspelled HALF of Tolkien's name.

Ronald, not Roald (you're thinking of Dahl...of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda, and someone who didn't need haughty pretentious language to make a point, tell a story, or be a genius)

and Reuel, not Ruel (admittedly a tough one)

I'm only messing with you, giving you a hard time because of your ludicrous three-comment-long rant whose only purpose was to fictitiously place yourself above those who know less about JRRT than you (big deal) and those who actually allow themselves to enjoy masterful filmmaking, even when it changes some stuff from the source material (all adaptations do, even the most respectful).

Chill out, bro.

Few people find it entirely impossible to enjoy both the books and the films, and very few feel the need to belittle the intelligence of other fans and the genitals of the artists to make their point.
