As well as new details on Caesar's rise to power, a ton of new promotional artwork - including what looks like the first poster for the movie - has been revealed on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' "Before The Dawn" website. There's also an image of a gun wielding ape on horseback. Check it out!

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth¹s dominant species.












Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer. The movie is set for release on Memorial Day weekend, July 18th, 2014.

Fox is clearly on a whole different era.

Say what you want, but First Class, Rise of the planet on the Apes and Prometheus have been some of the best movies of recent years to me.

Just to be clear, chimpanzees are APES not monkeys. They are higher up the evolutionary ladder. This is why the film is called "Planet of the Apes", not "Planet of the Monkeys".
