Barry Allen WILL Be THE FLASH In CW Series; Movie Still On Track For A 2016 Release?

It has been confirmed by Mark Pedowitz that The Flash is indeed in development and that Barry Allen will first be introduced as a recurring character on Arrow in season two. However, other sources are reporting that Greg Berlanti will helm a big screen version for a 2016 release!

Talking at the CW's TCA panel today, network boss Mark Pedowitz has confirmed that they are moving ahead with a small screen adaptation of The Flash. Further details on that can be found by clicking HERE, although he did go on to confirm that the series will focus on Barry Allen and that it will indeed be an origin story. However, the character will first make his entrance as a recurring star in Arrow. Pedowitz also told reporters that Amazon has been put on hold as they want to get their interpretation of the character right, while also assuring them that there are no conflicts between the movie and television worlds. Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter has added in their report that Greg Berlanti is still developing a big screen version of The Flash for a 2016 release. He will apparently direct the movie and write it alongside Chris Brancato, Michael Green, Geoff Johns and Marc Guggenheim. Will these both feature the same actor and version of the character?

I'm okay with this. Out of all the JL characters, The Flash would be the easiest to translate to the small screen. He has no major mythological backstory that requires large amounts of explanation or CGI unlike heroes such as Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.
If they can nail the superspeed then I'm all for it.

Not too happy about this. Flash deserves a movie.

I'm fine with this. Thank God it's Barry.

I feel a Flash/Green Arrow team up would be great.

jollem

Yes he will be, but what's the point of having him on the show. He and Green Arrow aren't even best friends in the comics. This would make more since if it was Hal Jordan.

And Flash is simply over due a movie.

Yes Flash deserves his own movie but its better to start small.

Hal Jordan's Green Lantern hasn't really been revelant to the public since Super Friends. No one really knew him. Hell more people knew John than Hal and that's a fact. When Green Lantern came out this was no introduction for him.

With Flash we will have a TV show.

Hell even Hulk, Thor, Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and Daredevil were on or had TV shows before films.

Give it some time. It's a step in the right direction. Better than an Amazon show.

Flash has one of the best rogue galleries in comics. Hopefully they make them awesome.

Loved Deathstroke in Arrow.

Flash would be a great show because he has so many great rogues they could explore (that with film, they wouldn't have the time)

I would like a Flash film befor the Justice Leauge! I could see Mirror Master as his first villain. Hes an original villain that could easily render the Flash's powers useless in his mirrorverse... Sequel has maybe Captain cold and weather wizard leading to eventual rogues team up with heat wave and professor zoom is a must

btw, Im glad its Barry Allen! He is the ULTIMATE Flash!

Get either the Wachowski sibilings or James Mangold for Flash.

Watch Speed Racer. Wachowski's are perfect for this.

Mangold has said he loves Flash and wants to do a film.

Good week for Flash fans.

Love Flashpoint Paradox.

I wouldn't mind seeing a crime scene tech named Barry Allen pop up on Arrow, but not the Flash. They should stick to their no powers rule. Ollie automatically looks really lame when you put him next to super humans, especially the TV Oliver. Even the real Green Arrow never quite with the Justice League. (JLU handled him excellently, though.)

Plus Flash on a TV budget? A CW budget? Cheapo effects, cheapo actor, rushed scripts and shooting schedules? Ugh, no thank you.

I don't trust Greg Berlanti directing. Dude wrote Green Lantern and directing one film called Life As We Know It.

I trust Goyer more than him.

Wachowskis are big comic fans. They produced V For Vendetta. Give em a good script and they will give you a fantastic looking movie.

@Spidey31, just like "Green lantern", 2011, Berlanti is just a place holder. Once the film gets through development, they will probably announce another director. I only wish people would bid on this.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I really don't think the Flash can take on his own movie unless it's handled properly. And I have a feeling this will be rushed (Just like most of DC's last films)

And seriously...If the Flash is in Star...ling City, Arrow can retire. Who needs a bow and arrow when the fastest man alive is on the scene? By the way, will Flash be from Centralling City?
