COMICS: Another (Cl)One Bites The Dust; SCARLET SPIDER Is Marvel's Latest Cancellation

So, this editorial really doesn't sound so stupid now, huh? In Marvel's December 2013 solicitations, it has been confirmed that Scarlet Spider will be cancelled with issue #25. That makes Wolverine & The X-Men their highest numbered series at #39, so expect it to be either relaunched or cancelled in the very near future! The cancellation of the Christopher Yost penned series will come as a huge blow to fans who enjoyed looking elsewhere for their Spidey fix following the events of the controversial Amazing Spider-Man #700 as Venom will also be brought to an end in November.

LAST DEVASTATING ISSUE!
• It’s over. Kaine did his best to be a hero. He failed.
• What about Houston?! Who lives? Who dies? Is there a place for the Scarlet Spider in this world? The answers will surprise you.
• Two years and 25 issues have led to THIS! Guest starring: MEXICO!

no the editorial is still stupid, DC's creators are leaving left and right, not to mention the Batwoman problem. Anyway sad to see this go great book hope we see more Kaine in the future.

Ahh, for [frick]s sake! I was really enjoying this series! Although I like The Superior Spider-man, they are bringing out too many "Superior" tie-ins for my liking (Superior Foes, Superior Carnage... what next Superior Venom and the Superior F4?) whereas The Scarlet Spider gave a more grounded, Spider-man that kind of reminded me of old Daredevil comics and Batman in a way. I hope they just relaunch it.

It was a good editorial and you made some good points. In the end, BOTH companies have positives and negatives.

Dear Marvel,

As I've said for months now, put Waid on Spider-Man monthly and drop Fat Slott.

Love Levi.

There's too many damn Green Lanterns too. Have Hal and Sinestro switch minds. Hal's in Sinestro's body and vice versa. Then Sinestro (in Hal's body) kills Hal (in Sinestro's body).

What do you think about that Gusto

I agree with @ATrueHero1987

I used to read X-Men comics religiously back in the day, I lost track of what was going on during the Messiah Complex story arc and missed a few issues. After then I tried getting back into it but unless you read 10 other books, there was no way to start and finish a storyline. The same could be said about the New 52 Superboy series, stories would start in Superboy and then end in The Teen Titans a comic I am not interested in so I missed out on endings to things. Gets on my nerves it does!

Wrong, your previous editorial is still plenty stupid.

Who cares about Scarlet Spider? No one, that's who. That's why it's cancelled. There are too many other amazing Marvel titles out there featuring A-posters like Thor, Cap, and the Xmen. Scarlet Spider is like, D-list at best. Good riddance to a throwaway character.

This series was good enough in my opinion. They should cancel Superior Spider-Man also and a good writer should take Dan Slott's place to write a good Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I'm tired of that Ock-Spidey.

#BIG%!#$ingSIGH

let me guess, another Avengers book will be announced soon?

Do solo character books even exist anymore at Marvel? I want to read lesser known characters than the Avengers team and solo books.

Also, no matter how good a book, if it doesn't sell well-it'll get cancelled. ex. I, Vampire(DC) was a great book but got cancelled because it didn't sell well.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! hope he gets more time with Spidey-Ock! Scarlet is way better than Superior! I liked Superior cause i was intrigued at what Otto does as Spidey. DAMN! And because of the team-up with Superior Spidey, I thought of bringing Gwen back after she dies in Amazing Spider-man 2.. Let that Green Goblin thing settle at Amazing Spider-man 3.. And have the Clone Saga in the movie in Amazing Spider-Man 4.
Durranto
Durranto - 9/12/2013, 12:34 PM
@ConquerorKang27.... I have to say, I have not found Thor interesting in ages, Captain America they didn't know what to do with so they threw him in a alternative dimension for god know how long and the Xmen... Xmen has just simply lost its way. I like the All New Xmen, but the introduction of the past Xmen and now the future Xmen just seems a bit desperate to me and will more than likely just end up them restarting everything again. Scarlet Spider is up there with the better written comics out there without having to rely on people buying 6 or 7 other titles to be able to follow one story.
Loving GOTG though, that should be a main pick.

TOO MANY editorial decisions being made in comics today based on the higher-ups fantastical ideas on what will get them a bigger movie market share. If it doesn't support THEIR vision of what could one day be a CBM, then it's gone (or changed).
We wanted this. We wanted movies based on our comics.
Now look what we've wrought.

How can anything sell well when ALL that's being pushed is the MEGA-CROSSOVER event of the month. NOT EVERYTHING has to involve 50% of the companies existing heroes. Damn it's exhausting.
