At a panel at the New York Comic Con today, it was revealed that Star Wars Rebels will take place fourteen years after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, with the galaxy finally beginning to realise that the reign of the Empire is NOT as good as it appears (hence the rise of the Rebellion). The character in the image above is 'The Inquisitor', the main villain of the series who will be hunting the young team it focuses on. It was also confirmed that none of the Stormtroopers in Star Wars Rebels are clones, but many were trained by them. According to Bleeding Cool, there is a chance of characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars appearing, while they add that, "The showrunners won’t be scared to kill of characters either." Check out a new featurette below.

Ok. I love how "the underworld" is going to be in play here. What I loved about the Clone Wars was when they had episodes where it was about the Villains more than the heroes.

Hopefully the Inquisitor has a great voice actor like Maul did. Hopefully they'll get someone like Keith Szarabajka.

I would expect nothing less from a show with Greg Weisman involved.

A lot of interesting stuff revealed here I just wish we got a look at some other new characters and got actual confirmation on whether or not at least one Clone Wars character will appear but hey what are you gonna do the Inquisitor looks cool. I've heard rumours of Steve Blum possibly being involved in the series and I'm willing to bet if he is then this will be the character he's voicing. I loved Clone Wars and I'm looking forward to the Bonus Content next year and I'm also looking forward to Rebels.

@ndwwrestler2

Dont get your hopes up bro, these are the same people who royally [frick]ed up a Spider-Man show with Bendis, Paul mother [frick]ing Dini and Joe Casey involved, they can mess this up just as easily even with the strong creative team behind it.

@ekrolo2 They can screw it up, but you can say that about a lot of companies.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I know it can be bad, but I don't necessarily believe that they will. We will have to wait and see.

Hey, it's Star Wars so (and I hate myself for being this way) I'll watch it religiously, weather it's good or bad but, by god, I'm hoping for good and so far, it's looking pretty promising!

I was expecting traditional animation, but this still blew me away a bit for a Disney XD show. The show's graphics isn't as cheesy as Max Steel or that Pacman show. Looking forward to it.

I hope the voice actors from TCW stick around, either voicing the same characters or new ones. Met a few of them at Star Wars Weekends at Disney and they all seemed to really love their jobs.

Should have got Starkiller

@jdillander91 We never saw Starkiller around Stormtroopers (except when he killed them) So I don't know how that would work.

I just noticed this. But doesn't The Inquisitor look like "The Son" from the Mortis Arc in season 3 of the Clone Wars?

am i the only one who's confused about there being another sith besides darth vader? is starkiller going to be in this show? he f'in should be. i loved his role in starting the rebellion. this guy shouldn't have a light saber, hopefully there's a cool reason behind it all. vader should have been the only one with a red light saber during this era.
superbatspiderman
superbatspiderman - 10/12/2013, 2:22 PM
Shouldn't the villain on a show about the rebellion be Darth Vader/The Emperor? He exterminated all other Jedi and most likely Sith.
speedybri
speedybri - 10/12/2013, 2:26 PM
The inquisitor? Come on really? That doesn't even sound creative.
I thought this show was supposed to be more traditional and take inspiration from the McQarry concept art. This doesn't look like it at all. Just looks like The Clone Wars.
And why can't it be Darth Vader hunting down the last if the Jedi? Why does I have to a new character that Vader "tasked" with doing that.
ndwwrestler2
ndwwrestler2 - 10/12/2013, 2:27 PM
@OdinsBeard I don't believe he's supposed to be a Sith, but an Assassin.

Remember Ventress was an assassin, and if you remember one of the cutscenes in The Force Unleashed, Palpatine did have his lightsaber, Kota took it off his belt.

@SUPEBATSPIDERMAN & speedybri

Vader is just one person, and there were a LOT of Jedi probably even after order 66, Vader can't track down and kill them all without help. And the Emperor is more of a behind the scenes type of guy.

Starkiller could make an appearance but if this is 14 years after Revenge of the Sith, it's three years before Force Unleashed. Interestingly, it's set the same year Han saved Chewbacca.

Really? Dave Filoni abandoned Clone Wars to do this? I'll give it a shot, but it looks like shit compared to the previous series...not that Clone Wars didn't have its flaws.
Pox
Pox - 10/12/2013, 4:38 PM
Even with "The Rule of Two", the lesser (Vader) will always be out there trying to find an appropriate new second to step up and take down the greater (Palpatine).

Of course, if the lesser is found out and is not ready...he has to bide time and destroy his own apprentice (much like what happened in TFU when Vader backstabbed Starkiller and spaced him)

At first I thought this character was going to be Rattataki like Ventress but the creases on the face makes me think that he is a Pau'an from Utapau (yes I had to look up these names to be make sure I got it right)...

OR he fell asleep on corduroy

wonder what happened to all the clones.
Pox

@ Ace

The clones were originally bred with accelerated aging to get them to fighting shape quick.

Unfortunately...it never stopped and they kept aging...thing is they never really got to retirement age due to you know...death by blaster.
StarkAnthony
StarkAnthony - 10/12/2013, 10:11 PM
Clones had accelerated aging. Most of them at this point are too old. Apparently there were still a few, such as the 501st, that were all Jango Fett clones, but that's from Battlefront II so I'm doubtful that it's high up on the canon list.
