Stephen King's IT And PET SEMATARY To Be Remade; Samuel L. Jackson Joins CELL

The Carrie remake may have failed to set the box office on fire, but the work of Stephen King is once again a hot commodity in Hollywood as both It and Pet Sematary are heading back to the big screen! Samuel L. Jackson has also joined the cast of zombie horror, Cell. Read on for details!

Earlier this week, Variety revealed that 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is in talks to helm Paramount's planned remake of Pet Sematary. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing, while Matt Greenberg and David Kajganich wrote the script. The novel focuses on a family whose new home is next to a cemetery which has the power to bring the creatures buried in it back from the dead. However, they don't return in exactly the same way they went in! Today, The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that Jane Eyre's Cary Fukunaga is planning to bring It to the big screen. The twist? It will be split into two movies; a smart decision considering the length and scope of the novel it's based on. Focusing on a group of young friends who are terrorised by the demonic Pennywise the Clown, it's easily one of King's most disturbing tales. Fukunaga will write the screenplay alongside Chase Palmer. In a final piece of King related news, Samuel L. Jackson will play 'Tom McCourt' alongside John Cusack's 'Clay Riddell' in Tod "Kip" Williams' adaptation of the novel which turns the human populace into mindless zombies after a mysterious pulse is transmitted through their cell phones. Which of these are you most excited about?

Like Clive Barker, I think studio's should stop revisiting an authors past works that have been made into film and use some of the other material that hasn't made film or TV yet.

From Barker or King, I'd love to see Weaveworld (was once a comic mini), Insomnia, Imajica, or even the Dark Tower books.

Instead we just get the same regurgitated films.
They're even doing Hellraiser again.

P.S. I'm aware of 'Under The Dome'...I just wish I wasn't.

Make IT a full on trilogy and get every bit of the book into the film and bring back Tim Curry for Pennywise and make him more a rutheless killer clown :D

Anyway, these remakes will likely flop given the odds of them working.

That's fine with me but they better not remake 'The Green Mile' or 'The Mist'.

The film industry should at least be developing 'The Dark Tower' series. The adaptation from those books would be amazing.
