X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Said To Be Fox's Most Expensive Movie Since AVATAR

According to a new report about the upcoming Montreal based reshoots for Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, it's the second-most expensive production from 20th Century Fox since they made the highest grossing movie of all-time; Avatar. Read on for details!

The Calgary Herald spoke to Quebec film commissioner Hans Fraikin about his recent meetings with Fox about X-Men: Days of Future Past planned return to the city to shoot some additional scenes, and in their report are a couple of very interesting tidbits. According to the site - and it seems unlikely that they would pluck this particular piece of information out of thin air - the movie, "is the second-most expensive movie ever produced by Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox, behind only Avatar." Whether that's a result of the star-studded cast or the CGI Sentinels is unknown, but that low-key teaser trailer clearly hid the majority of action! The site goes on to say that, "Fraikin also confirmed he is in talks with Fox to attempt to persuade the Hollywood studio to shoot the sequel to Independence Day in Montreal. If Fox decides to do it here, they would likely shoot in 2015." What do you guys think of this news?

How do you think it's a waste of money if the movie hasn't come out yet?

I do not, nor will I ever, understand why movie studios insist on giving Bryan Singer hundreds of millions of dollars to shit down the toilet? 99% of his movies are box office flops, yet every movie he's done has close to $300 million budgets.

I'm pumped for this. Every Bryan Singer involved X-Men film has been awesome & The Wolverine. They're only 2 bad X-Men films I seriously don't get why you guys complain about it so much.

Yeap. James cameron is well known for pushing the boundaries on special effects which obviously leads to more $$$ being spent.

Fox is 8 movies deep into a franchise and has hit (X2, First Class) and missed(The Last Stand, Origins/Wolverine) but I think the key here is Bryan Singer. He gets the Xmen, what I think has a grasp of balancing out action/drama/humor/character development extremely well, almost as good as Marvel Studios.

Obviously this film is a big risk regardless of whos making it. This story is one of the 'unfilmables' and even casual fans recognize this. Its either going to be the most rewarding merger of the past and present timeline or it is going to be. Thee. Biggest. ClusterFrck. EVER.

Good luck I want this to be good by all means

There needs to be a massive budget. Half is going towards Halle Berry's acting coach.

*facepalm just because Marvel gets the rights back doesn't mean hey will get a movie started right away. A F4 film or X-men film at Marvel would be years after the MCU. Even if they did try to get a movie out in the MCU, that would sacrifice other heroes chances.

Who said anything about Marvel making a movie about F4 or X-Men straight away? Marvel getting the rights back would be a win for me, even if they sat on making a movie about either for years. At the very least, when they got around to making them, they could integrate them with the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

@ALmight

depends who you ask, studio stated around 240 mill, but its rumored that it was 300 mill or more.

Either way, it was more than worth the investment.

It will end up being the highest grossing X-MEN film to date once it's released, how high the total is at the end, is another question, but it will make more than X-MEN 3. Didn't expect the budget to be that high though, Fox are throwing everything into this.

Right now the budget is at 250 million but it rumor that it might go up to 275-300 million by the end

This movie looks great. It does.
It seems as though they have begun to learn from their mistakes finally.
The Wolverine was a huge step up from Origins.
And DOFP looks, even from the small previews, substantially superior than The Last Stand.

I don't understand the hate. Singer made 2 great films and produced first class. I think people are just Marvel dick riders. I hope we get to see the cartoon X-Men on the big screen with Sentinels and everything

This film will definitely deserve it's success if it's anywhere near the quality of X2, X-Men: First Class, or The Wolverine. And are people forgetting that the popularity in the series must be improving with The Wolverine being the 2nd highest grossing in the series? Thank you China for the extra money.

I guess story line is taking a back seat.
You can tell this movie is not going to be good
trying to build hype. Desperation is starting to show
when you start saying it cost a lot of money to make.
Also comparing it to Avatar more desperation and I think they also tried to attache them self to the Avengers

This makes me not want to not watch it even more.

I think with a story like Days of the Past, you will need a big budget!!!

These days studio have faith into comic book films then any other cause CBM are in
And the fanbase has grown like even bigger than it has 10-15 yrs ago

This is going to make its money back, especially coming out on memorial weekend

As long as Fox is actively making X-men and FF movies and sony continues the Spidey franchise, Marvel wont get the rights back. As much as id love to see the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Dr. Doom, Wolverine(with costume) and Spidey in the MCU its not gonna happen anytime soon. Maybe in my lifetime but not now.
JoJo1982
JoJo1982 - 11/19/2013, 6:57 PM
Marvel studios don't really care about getting those rights back

They have plenty on their plate to last them for a good 20 or 30 more years

So ppl on here need to get over it!!!

jcfrommars9
jcfrommars9 - 11/19/2013, 7:00 PM
@BlackJack10

but if this film flops, they wouldn't be able to make a film until after the big CBM wave due to its name being tainted, similar to DD but much worse.

If this movie flops, it will deserved to be tainted and shelved. Between the news of their production budget, the acting talent and Bryan Singer, there should be absolutely no excuse for this movie to fail. X-Men: First Class and The Wolverine brought back a certain level of respect that X-Men 3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine all but destroyed. This movie for our sake, better not destroy it again.

good luck getting your money back if this has a $300,000,000 budget,it'll have make about $900,000,000 to make any decent profit.

oh yeah the best after the credits seen is..........
