COMICS: WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN Being Relaunched By Jason Latour And Mahmud Asrar

Last month, it was revealed that Jason Aaron's Wolverine & The X-Men run will be wrapping up next year. It has now been revealed that Jason Latour and Mahmud Asrar are launching a new #1 which will now focus on a small group of students, along with new additions to the school like Fantomex!

Wolverine & The X-Men is coming to an end in February with issue #42, but don't fret, because it will be back the following month with a new #1 issue. This volume of the series will apparently serve as a "summer semester" after the first "school year" of Aaron's run, focusing specifically on students Quentin Quire, Evan Sabahnur and Idie Okonkwo. "These kids are Logan’s legacy, but as we’ve seen up to this point he didn’t have such a great track record with that stuff even when he was at his best," new writer Jason Latour explains. "In them we could be witnessing the growth of the next great team of X-Men, or the creation of the biggest threats the Marvel U will ever see. Everything we’re planning, the adventures, the threats, will reflect that journey."

With Wolverine now mortal, he decides to commit to ensuring that his legacy isn't leaving behind the next big future X-Men villain, but one of his oddest decisions is adding Fantomex to the school's staff! "Well with the mass exodus of teachers Fantomex is, maybe somewhat surprisingly, Logan’s first choice to step into an open position," adds Latour. "Fantomex is a man who sees the world in grey, who understands what it means to be raised a weapon. As violent has he’s been, he’s shown again and again that he does know its cost." Expect a third volume to be launched as soon as the summer semester ends...that'll be another new #1 then!

I think the first time I read Quentin Quire was during the Schism storyline. hated him then, but i think you were supposed to. but with the recent Hellfire Academy storyline and his role in Battle for the Atom and now this new launch, it looks like they're really trying to make him a key player in the future of the x-men. and i'm really cool with that. the guy is kind of awesome!

The entire part of Wolverine being "mortal" without his healing factor is complete BS, not to mention that it completely ignores continuity. He lost his healing factor waaayyy back in uncanny x-men when they first went to Genosha, and he was almost dead within a couple of days because the adamantium was poisoning him. I've given up on Marvel comics completely.

So now marvel is treating its titles like they treat their characters? You know kill them off, but bring them back to life in a years time.
Cuz amazing Spider-mans coming back with issue 700.1.
Oh and I foking hate the point one point two numbering

This is good. With that other new title of his (with him working for that criminal), I thought this series was getting a new name. Glad to see his name still attached to it.

Does anyone have a good explanation for the constant renumbering? I'm a Marvel Zombie and I'll buy it all, but I've yet to hear a really valid reason from Marvel for the perpetual restarts.

It's amazing how some artist make the kids look so young, while others make them look so much older.

1 issue they look like 7th graders, another they look like Juniors and Seniors.

Earzmundo, I don't think that will happen anytime soon. Sadly, that was probably the only time we was gonna see that.

I don't get why people care If it's a new no1 or not. who gives a shit. It doesn't effect the story and it is accessible to new readers.

People just like to complain I guess.

People don't complain because they like it,they just care about not being taken for granted by a greedy company!A company that keeps relaunching and rebooting after only a few issues! And some series get rebooted and aren't as good as the last volume, they lost momentum in-between numbers!I love reading comics, but in my opinion,if it ain't broke, leave it alone. And,I know at my local comic store, they told me new 1's don't bring new people in and get stuck with lots of copies! Not everything is black and white in this world, know what I mean!

Yep!!Too much Wolverine(one of my faves)! He should be alone in his own book not a team book! He's a loner who works best by himself! But Marvel will never do that!
