Thanks to a heads up from @_NerdyGeek_, we have a first look at the "For Your Consideration" posters for Warner Bros.' Academy Award campaign. While there are currently no posters for it, Man of Steel also looks likely to get an awards push from the studio as their official site has it listed for "Best Picture", "Best Director", "Best Adapted Screenplay", "Best Cinematography", "Best Production Design", "Best Film Editing", "Best Original Score", "Best Visual Effects" (which we already know it hasn't made the short list for) and several others. What do you guys think of its chances? How about the movies below? Be sure to sound off in the usual place!

LoL, Hobbit 2 is pushing for more awards than Gravity - nice try!

I think Gravity will win Cinematography and maybe Score.
Could be a big contender for Best Director too.

Haha, The Hobbit isn't going to even be nominated for most of those awards, let alone win them.

I don't take the awards that serious. I read stories on how corrupt the people behind it are. But if it matters so much to WB, I hope their movies get at least a nom or something.

I'm really hoping Gravity wins big at the Oscars... Best Picture and Best Director!

Gravity: Over hyped, over rated, bland thriller that only has a great score and pretty great visuals going for it.

I remember when WB did this for TDKR last year :') I think Gravity deserves to win or at least get a nomination for those categories mentioned above.

I hope I'm not the only one who remembers how this site went into an uproar when they released these kinds of posters for The Dark Knight Rises. EVERYONE flipped out because of how "desperate" and "ridiculous" and "pathetic" of an attempt it was, since EVERYONE knew that "no movies ever released these kinds of posters," right? Yeah. I'd love to know how those people react to this.

I can atleast applaud WB for trying & spending some money on pushing these films!
Although it's a long shot for Hobbit & MOS & I Loved, LOVED them both!

Disney & Marvel need to learn to give their films some respect, cuz they don't think any of their films are any good... except Animation stuff!

Hobbit won't win shit, cuz that's what it is. Gravity probably will win a few things even though it's shit too.

Hope Gravity takes home at least some of the awards!

I was was ecstatic when RotK won big time back then, which I understood as an act of respect and appreciation for the whole trilogy. I still haven't seen DoS, but I don't think I'd want it to win any of those categoeries based on what I've seen and know of it. Maaaybe Production and Costume Design, but even in that department I'm cross with them for the way they treated Beorn.

MOS for ,"Best Adapted Screenplay","Best Director"

Even Nolan last year didn't even get nominated for best director for TDKR let alone Snyder? lol xD However I think MOS should at least be nominated for Best Visual Effects. It really deserves an Oscar nod for that.

@EdgyOutsider

"Prisoners" won't get any recognition.
Mind you i didn't saw the movie. But i read part of the review today. The author stated that "Prisoners" shows how it's easy to go from being "Religious Person to "vicious and brutal" character in no time. He was reffering to Americans, but i think it can be said about every culture. I found those words interesting. What do you think about that ? If the reviewer is right, that is the main reason why "Prisoners" won't get any recognition. Academy can be too sensitive sometimes.
EdgyOutsider
EdgyOutsider - 12/15/2013, 3:10 PM
@jerryblake: I also think it can be said about every culture. Going from religious to vicious and brutal is what helps make the film so interesting because it showcases what can become of us if we are desperate enough. Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal really gave fantastic performances worth recognition and I mean that with honestly no bias. The direction and cinematography was great and it really was a haunting and a very emotionally draining film. But, I can see your point on why it won't get recognition but personally, I still think it should get recognition. You really should see it, especially for Jackman's performance though.

Prisioners is [frick]ing awesome!!!

Jake GyllIDon'tKnowHowToWriteHisName had me intrigued with his very minimalist performance in that movie.

Him and Jackman should both be nominated for best actor.

I think MOS has a shot at Best Visual Effects. Definitely a nomination at least.

They should retitle The Lone Ranger to "The Lonely Ranger." That movie was a massive failure.

Those are some amazing posters. I love Gravity. It's my favorite film this year.

I do have a bit of curiosity why WB's did not push the Harry Potter films at the Oscars. I mean the last two films for me where amazing.

LOL Hobbit 2? Really? I mean I enjoyed it but it was way too long, the ending wasn't an ending, unnecessary CGI(seriously LOTR used practical effects for the Orcs not CGI) and the pacing was so bad... sooo bad.
