ARGO Writer Set To Rewrite Zack Snyder's BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Before Filming Begins

Not everyone was thrilled to learn that Man of Steel writer David Goyer would be returning to pen Batman Vs. Superman, but as expected, Ben Affleck has drafted in someone he's previously worked with (Argo's Chris Terrio) to get the script in shape before shooting begins...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner Chris Terrio has been brought on board to write another draft of Batman Vs. Superman for Warner Bros. The Argo scribe has a strong relationship with both the studio and Ben Affleck, the star and director of that movie and the man who will suit up as Batman. Director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel follow-up will be released on July 17th, 2015, with principal photography set to commence in early 2014 in Michigan. David Goyer wrote the screenplay, but the site adds that "sources say Terrio has been brought in to get the script in shape before filming begins." This is without a doubt for the best, especially as Goyer has always been at his strongest when working with more accomplished writers like Christopher Nolan.

i'm not suprised. Once they got Affleck to play Batman it was rather clear that Goyer won't be the only one writing the script.

This goes a little bit more in line with my theory that Affleck isn't just on this flick to play Batman. Warner/DC needed someone to come onto this project to be the Robert Downey Jr. of sorts for it. It also happens that the guy directed the winner for Best Picture last year. AND he's a massive Batman fan. My guess is that he's there to serve as an uncredited co-director to work with the actors while Snyder works on the big budget stuff and gets to still put his name at the top of the flick (because of unions and such being uppity about the whole shared-credit thing). This could be an example of Affleck using his star-power (because let's face it, he's the biggest name attached to the movie) to make the script more workable in the acting department.

Or I could be completely wrong and that's not what's happening at all.

With a solid story by Goyer coupled with Terrio's dialogue, I have higher hopes for this flick.

Ben Affleck would not join this movie if he didn't had some creative control.

Too bad this didn't happen before they made man of steel. That movie would've been better, would've made more money, executives wouldn't have panicked and shoehorned Batman (and wonder woman, and the flash, and Batman gf, etc) into a superman sequel, and the dc universe would be better off. Still, this is great news

Can't wait for the Affleck directed Batman.

Hope it's a smaller, more personal film. Maybe a series of bizarre murders pushes Batman's detective skills to the limit...

This is going to be good. I like David Goyer but I hated how he just threw in religious analogies into Man of Steel just because he saw the similarities, it was already done in Superman Returns and was not needed. He seems to do that a lot; where he just throws things into a script just because he notices it, but he still has some good stories and ideas in his scripts.
