After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

With movies like 300, The Hobbit, and others, I can't even imagine having to act so much in front of a blank green screen. Sir Ian McKellen has gone on record saying how tough it is to constantly pretend to interact with people who aren't even there and then imagine their reactions and react based off of that. It just sounds so tedious and boring. I'd imagine the paycheck at the end makes it all worth it though...

I loved 300. Visually stunning, and the actors were all spot on.

That being said...

I will see this movie, and I will likely enjoy it. But it's going to flop. There are not enough connections to the original for the GA to care about it. And the visual style isn't new and exciting anymore. And with Snyder not directing, that will scare some people away, thinking that he didn't want the project.

But I hope I'm wrong.
