"I think working with somebody like John, who has ideas of his own, we'd go back and forth and amplify each other. That's really where I get my excitement about working on a project, is when I speak with an artist and we actually become real, creative collaborators. It's not about handing a script over and then having the pages drawn. It's gotta be about that collaboration. You talk and formulate ideas and themes before you even start writing or drawing. For me, that's the key to a great relationship.

Again, like I said, it's a lifelong dream. It's such an honor to work with John, because I've followed his work of course for years. So it's really a dream come true, and it's great to be back on Superman.

For me, as far as the story goes, my tagline for the story is "Putting the Man of Tomorrow back in the Man of Tomorrow." It's really looking at Superman and getting back to the core values and attributes and strengths of Superman. Really, the Man of Tomorrow is the theme, for me, that we're going to tackle in this first storyline."

His artwork here looks better than it did on Captain America (yuck), but the heads still have Cave-man Brow :(

Still, i've had time to digest the significance of a name like him coming over to DC for a while, so i'm kind of excited!

I love seeing him inked by Klaus Janson. No one else really brings out how hard edged and gritty his style can be. His run on Thor has images that will stay in head forever. The sheer power!!!

JRJr is one of my favorite comic book artists ever, so I'm sold. It looks [frick]ing amazing to me, I just wish the New 52's Superman suit didn't look like an armor though.

I love JR Jr. because he has his own style, he's a part of that rare kind of artists that when you look at the artwork you know it's him.

I like Geoff Johns teasers. Bringing Superman back to his core values i.e. not being so douchey. So I am hopeful for the writing.

But JRJR's work still sucks giant donkey balls.

@spiderclone JRJR's art was great in the 80'. But sometime in the 90's he went in a direction that's repetitive and unappealing. Like that Superman flying pose he has also used on Sentry and other guys.
I think artists like JRJR, Byrne, Jim Lee, and others regress over time because time takes them further away from when they learned all the basics and drew from life and became a great artist.
And I think over time an artist stops drawing his version of reality and draws their version of their art and emulates their own style as they move away from the roots that made them great.

So I think if Byrne, Lee, JR JR and etc. would stop drawing comics and like a kid learning to draw, start drawing from life again. Start going over the basics again with a refresher course and even discover new methods I think they would reemerge as a better artists.

But that could also be something artists in all mediums should do because once an artist feels like an accomplished expert they really stop creating and start recreating from their previous work.
It would be like a rock band, trying to recreate the feel and quality of their breakthrough album, instead of creating an album based upon what they learned that made the breakthrough album great in the 1st place.

Geoff Johns and Greg Pak on Superman and Action Comics! I think Superman is about to surpass Diana as the best representation of a comic character in the N52.

Scott Lobdell sucks!

I've been losing faith in Geoff Johns for awhile now...which really sucks as he was a hero of mine for years. Not a fan of this look for Superman, it reminds me of so many of his lame reinterpretations in the late '90s and 2000's.

But...if the writing is good, if we finally get a good Superman comic again, it'll all be well.

I'm not a bog fan of this. I appreciate everyone having their own style, but this just feels too rough to me. The proportions in the first pic look weird to me around the waistline. The suit, even if it has armor properties, it should still conform to the body and be flexible; this pics has too many straight lines and it look robotic on the arms and abs. The second pic has kind of feminine posture... I'll just leave it at that. I think the suit needs to be softened a little. I'll reserve my full judgment after I've seen it colored. Even Jim Lee's stuff is a complicated mess of shading until it has color.

Wait-- Geoff is taking over Superman? As in, the TITLE "Superman"? As in, he's replacing that hack Scott Lobdell?

HELL YES!!! THANK MONKEY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

And I gotta say, that new pic is a LOT more appealing looking than that first one they revealed on DC Nation. Not quite reticent about Romita's artwork now, so I'm DEFINITELY checking this out!
