It's On! CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 To Square Off With BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN In 2016

Despite reports earlier today claiming that Warner Bros. were planning to release Batman Vs. Superman a week earlier to avoid Marvel's 2016 movie, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that it's Captain America 3 which will take that May 6th spot two years from now!

If you needed any further proof that Marvel are incredibly confident about the success of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Captain America 3 is the movie that they've selected to face off against Batman Vs. Superman in 2016. Some fans had been speculating that Doctor Strange would take that date, a move which seemed ill-advised (after all, a fairly unknown property against Batman AND Superman sounds like box office suicide). The site goes on to add that, "Warners may have been waiting to see what the Marvel title was before considering a date change for Batman-Superman, if the studio indeed blinks." With box office analysts dismissing the possibility of the two opening against each other and that report from earlier, expect to hear something official soon about Batman Vs. Superman...

Let's see how well Cap 2 does. If it does over 600 mil worldwide Iwhich it'll probably will) the WB/DC has to be worried. Not saying Cap 3 will out gross Batman vs Superman but it'll hurt the film's B.O and won't let it earn to it's potential. If I were WB/DC, I would move especially if Cap 2 is well received and makes a lot of money.

What???? It should have been Thor 3... This doesn't make sense. A lot of shifting schedules.

DC should move to June/July. Those are the months I look forward to the most for summer blockbusters.

HAHA! Gotta love Marvel's opportunism.

It's serious, I'm not saying it to bash on Marvel, it's really a brilliant move to announce it now.

Then Doctor Strange is in July that year, Thor 3 in 2017 (like they said, they want a new and existing title every year).

I'm curious at to what story-line they'll use for Cap 3. Maybe Zemo and the return of Red Skull, perhaps?

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been receiving nothing but Great buzz. It's gonna make a lot of money through word of mouth which is already great so far.

Seriously, I wish one of the studios had the balls to just move their release date.
No one could possibly benefit from this.

I still believe that one of them will move. From a business stand point, that would be the smartest thing.

If it stays like this, I can't even begin to imagine what the fanboys at the midnight releases are going to do to each other...

NEWS FLASH: Mass chaos broke out at the local cinema last night, as fans of the new Captain America movie and fans of the new Batman vs Superman movie broke out into a huge fight. Many casualties were caused, with barely anyone making it out alive.

If the buzz for CA:TWS is true by the time Cap 3 is released, Cap could be an Ironman-sized obstacle for Batman/Superman.

@rockerdude22, you're delusional. whatever couple of fanboys that might get into an exchange would sooner turn it into a westside story dance battle than a [frick]ing fight. most everyone will leave a showing of one film and go see the other one.

shit isn't that serious out on the real world. not for shit like this anyway.

@Kurne

If any hero amongst the Marvel stable would step up to take the hit it would be Cap... quite poetic.

If Goyer was still writing Batman vs. Superman, I think Cap would had the advantage a bit, but since they got an academy award winning writer on board plus with the buzz Cap 2 has, I think this will be a tough stalemate.
