UPDATE #2: Fox Reportedly Dumps FANTASTIC FOUR Director, Writer And Cast
According to a new report, 20th Century Fox have decided to not only drop Chronicle director Josh Trank and X-Men: Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg from The Fantastic Four, but possibly even the entire cast. Where do they go from here? Read on for details!
Well, did anyone see this coming? Bleeding Cool have just posted the following, claiming that The Fantastic Four may be in even more trouble than we imagined. "I’ve learnt from a rather well-connected source that, as the title says, Fox has dumped Fantastic Four director John Trank and the script by Simon Kinberg and are actively looking for replacements. Six months before they are due to shoot, for 2015 release. Oh, yes, and there are now casting issues from the studio too." Now, I know it would be easy to dismiss this as nonsense, but Bleeding Cool aren't the kind of site to run a story like this without being pretty certain of their sources. They've also got a lot right in the past, so it's a safe bet that there's something to this. If so, we could be looking at two outcomes: Fox lets the rights revert to Marvel Studios or rush out a version which would be even more hastily thrown together than Trank's (it may feel like it's been in pre-production forever, but they've only recently finished the script and begun the casting process). What do you think?
UPDATE: On the other hand...
UPDATE #2: Bleeding Cool have now responded to the above denials with the following:
"[We] remain confident in out source. Bleeding Cool suggests that if Fox really would like to stomp on the rumour, they stop approaching folk to replace the director and to write a new screenplay."
