UPDATE: 12 YEARS A SLAVE Star Chiwetel Ejiofor Eyed For Villain Role In JAMES BOND 24

The news that director Sam Mendes and writer John Logan would indeed be returning for the follow-up to Skyfall came as a huge relief to 007 fans last year, but now the casting process is finally under way, and Academy Award nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is in the running to play the villain!

According to The Wrap, 12 Years a Slave and Serenity star Chiwetel Ejiofor is the frontrunner to play the lead villain in the next James Bond movie (which despite a convincing fake trailer, still has no title). Sam Mendes is set to direct Bond 24, and Skyfall scribe John Logan also returned to pen the screenplay. There aren't any solid character details as of yet, byt the site emphasise the fact that he is Sony and MGM's favourite for the role of 007's next foe. Meanwhile, casting for two key female parts is also underway. One is for a new Bond girl, while the other is described as, "a Scandinavian with a troubled past who will serve as a brief love interest for Bond." Would you guys like to see Ejiofor (a fan favourite choice for Black Panther) as the next Bond baddie?

UPDATE: According to Aftonbladet (via Bleeding Cool), Swedish actresses Ida Engvoll and Disa Östrand are among those who have tested for the movie. Could one of them be the next Bond Girl?

Because we have to have our attention taken away from his last big role.

Man I'm black as well but this isn't really a huge issue that he's the bad guy, he's a Bond villain not just some bad guy so that tells you something about Chiewetell himself. I can't wait!

He was awesome in Serenity as the villain. He was cold, precise and logical. Sounds like he should be a Sith Lord.

Well, the last villain was a Spaniard.

I'm with this but I need Elba as Bond too. Lets turn Bond to black.

Remake Live and Let Die. As much as I love that movie and every cheesy bit of silliness in it, I think it would be an interesting story retold in the new Craig-Bond-verse.

Idris would make a better Bond villain. More menacing. Should be a rougue agent. 008 or some shit.

I'm all for this, we need him as Black Panther too. For once, the film studios should just go with the obvious choice.

I can only imagine the backlash from making a Bond with an all black cast.

Eh As Black Panther won't come out until atleast 2016 He could very easily be in both. Marvel would make one stupid move if they don't cast him as Black Panther plain and simple. But then again, he might not want to play the role, even though he was clearly born for it.

Chiwetel Ejiofor needs to stay away from the crappy MCU films, period.

I really like him, I think he's a great actor. It'd be very interesting to see him take on a villainy role. He surely gets to show a whole other side! I hope this works out.

As for Bond Girls, I love Penelope Cruz but I wouldn't be surprised if she won't be in it sadly…

No as T'challa but yes for T'chaka. The Black panther should be young. He got the mantle young, in his teens. Now, while I do not want to see a teenage Black Panther I do not want him to be older than say 25,26. He should be the youngest of all the Avengers.

That being said the first BP movie could be a period piece ( like Cap) starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as T'chaka and the second starring Aldis Hodge as T'challa.
