Benedict Cumberbatch Denies STAR WARS EPISODE VII Involvement

But can we really trust the word of the man who said he wasn't Khan in another J.J. Abrams helmed movie, Star Trek Into Darkness? Hit the jump to hear what Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch had to say when he was quizzed about his rumoured connection to Star Wars Episode VII?

There are only a handful of actors who seem to be anywhere near close to being attached to Star Wars Episode VII (Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong'o for example), but one name which seems to always crop up is Benedict Cumberbatch. Fans are desperate to see the British actor reunite with director J.J. Abrams, and while both men seem to be remarkably good at keeping secrets, it does now appear as if the Sherlock star has taken himself out of the running once and for all. Talking at the Oz Comic Con recently, @TheIrisAU reports that the actor said, "I would’ve liked a part in JJ’s new Star Wars but it won’t happen sadly." He also dismissed the possibility of EVER playing The Doctor in Doctor Who, or even making appearance in the popular BBC series for that matter. This is disappointing news on all counts really, but would it be naive to hope that the reason for it is down to him playing a certain other doctor for Marvel Studios? We'll have to wait and see...

This is great news! That means he is playing THANOS! He would be the perfect casting. Has the menacing but intelligent voice and the screen presence for him. He is also tall and thin so he would be perfect for prosthetics.

MAKE IT HAPPEN FIEGIE

Not being signed onto to this site for at least the last year means I am not familiar with the users anymore.

Could anyone refresh me on what has happened?

I see Grif is still a shame to his name, made famous by RVB.

In that interview he stated that he would not be in Dr. Who or specifically Star Wars 7. Maybe in 8 or 9?

He'd make a really great Master in Doctor Who. Sad to hear he won't be involved in the series at all.

We've already seen Cumberbatch turn Khan into a crying sissy. Strangely everyone hated Hayden Christensen's crying Vader but they love crying CumberKhan. I guess Christensen's Crying Vader would go over well with todays more sensitive a feminine male fans. It was several years too early.

If he wants a role J.J. Abrams and Disney would not be stupid enough to let him go.

Cumperpatch would've been great as a Dagobah swamp creature
or done voice acting as The Force: "Use me, & may I be strong with you"

I hope he's not in Star Wars I'm not a fan of his. I don't want Star Wars becoming Star Trek. You already have the director from Star Trek. So you don't need the actor from that movie too.

Good. He is too connected to Star Trek, having him in Star Wars would have been weird. I never did believe those rumors anyway.

JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman...3 guys who are everything that's wrong with Hollywood and Sci-fi these days. Bunch of hacks.

Benedict Cumberbatch, on the other hand, can do or not do whatever the heck he wants. Good for him for not wanting to be inevitably thrown into Star Wars as a Sith villain and getting even more typecast.
