BOX OFFICE: America, F*ck Yeah! CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER #1 For Third Week

As expected, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is indeed at the #1 spot for a third straight week, and it has in fact performed so well that the Marvel Studios sequel is just days away from crossing $600 million worldwide! Hit the jump for details on this weekend at the box office.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

So, with a current worldwide total of around $586 million, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now closing in on Iron Man 2's $623 million and Thor: The Dark World's $644 million to become the third highest grossing Marvel Studios movie behind only Iron Man 3 and The Avengers. Can it do it? We'll have to wait and see, but with numbers like these from this weekend, it certainly seems likely! Also, as confident as Warner Bros. are in Batman Vs. Superman, this has got to giving them second thoughts about facing off against Captain America 3 in 2016. What do you guys think?

Lets see;

- Avengers; Age Of Ultron should easily pass its previous movie and given it features the return of Iron Man after the block buster Iron Man 3, can easily see it making around $1.5bn+
- If Captain America; The Winter Soldier makes anywhere past $700m then expect Captain America 3 to make $1bn+
- Thor; The Dark World made $644m so when Thor 3 rolls around we should see a box office of $800m minimum

Look forward to see Marvel take the highest grossing film franchise of all time spot by the time we see Ant-Man in July 2015.

I'm a huge DC fan and Superman is my favorite superhero. That being said...Captain America: The Winter Soldier is my favorite comicbook movie! As a matter of fact, it's my favorite movie! This movie was amazing and I still intend to watch it one or two more times before it leaves theatres!

Nice! :D I might actually go watch it a third time during the next week with some friends who haven't seen it yet. That would make it one of my "most often watched in the cinema" movies. Not sure I will though.

"Will it out gross the crap that is Man of Steel?"

Easily... If it remains top of the box office it could stay in cinema's longer. Either way it has about 2-3 weeks remaining minimum.

A film putting up these kinda numbers in April isn't ordinary. Weak competition or not, it's an impressive feat period.
