More From Simon Kinberg On THE FANTASTIC FOUR; Will We See Annihilus?

Talking more about Josh Trank's grounded take on The Fantastic Four, writer and producer Simon Kinberg is quizzed here about everything from the new costumes to the shooting schedule and possibility of an appearance from Annihilus alongside Toby Kebbell's Doctor Doom. Check it out!

Talking to Collider at WonderCon, the site asked Simon Kinberg whether or not The Fantastic Four will be set in the present day or possibly the past (it's hard to deny that the team would work well in a setting similar to that of X-Men: First Class after all). "It’s modern day. I don’t know what the plans are for the publicity. We start shooting in two, three weeks. I went to Baton Rouge the day before yesterday. I go back there tomorrow. We have the cast. We have the costumes." However, when he was asked for specifics on how the costumes will differ to the versions seen in Tim Story's take on the franchise, he added: "The thing I would say overall about the film is that it’s a much more grounded, realistic, dramatic version of the film than those are films were. Which isn’t to say it’s Dark Knight. It’s not. It’s still fun." When the site then asked if me might see Annihilus, Kinberg obviously wasn't giving anything away, but if you check out the video over at the site, you may agree that his reaction is an interesting one! "I'm not going to give any comment on that [laughs], but I’m happy you’re curious about it. We shoot most of the summer until around end of July, August. I don’t know how many days. But we start soon and end in August." Share your thoughts on these comments in the usual place!

How a fantastic four trilogy should look.

1. Annihilis, Set up doom.
2. Doom, don't kill him, leaving him open for ferthur expansion.
in between there can be some universe expansion events, like Avengers VS doom, stuff like that.
3. Doom again, kill him this time.

Then they can show up in a Silver Surfer film against galactus. sadly this won't ever happen. Why can't FF be in the MCU? We would be able to get the secret invasion, and Galactus, and Doom... And Annihilis of course.

Yossarian, he knows the answers. But he's not supposed to talk about them. That's how you get in trouble with the studio writing your checks.

Costumes? I thought this was supposed to be realistic... Superheroes don't wear costumes in the real world (see Chronicle).

[frick] yeah, Annihilus! Can't wait to see Annihilus grounded in reality! Fox has another winner on their hands! Go Fox go!!!

Unfortunately I don't think Fox can ever do Galactus justice, he's too big of a threat for the F4 alone to take on. Sure it works in the comics but not in a grounded cinematic world. The only way it could ever happen would be a X-Men crossover but that doesn't seem to be happening.
Besides, I don't want to see the F4 become little bitches and have Wolverine lead them

@Abomination
Cipher could get drunk and then write/direct/produce a F4 film in one weekend better than those

I like the sound of this so far, comments made sense, like the direction they are taking - less cheesy than the first 2 movies, a little more grounded, but not dark and gritty.

People need to take a chill pill and stop hating so early on.

And I also hate this "grounded realistic" crap. Nothing is grounded about a man who can strect his body, or one that be on fire and fly around.
