Small Screen BATMAN Prequel Series GOTHAM Ordered To Series By Fox

The pilot - which we were lucky enough to see plenty of set photos from - has obviously gone down well with Fox, as they have confirmed today that Gotham has been picked up for a first season. That series focuses on a young Jim Gordan and Bruce Wayne after the murder of his parents.

It's official! As expected, a full season of Gotham has been picked up by Fox. Why isn't this news a surprise? Well, the network would have had to pay a hefty penalty had it not been ordered to series, but despite that, they obviously wouldn't have moved ahead with something they're not happy with which should give us all a reason to look forward to Gotham debuting this Fall. Ben McKenzie will front the series as Detective James Gordon, and he'll be joined by Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith as crime boss Fish Mooney, David Mazouz as Young Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Wayne family servent Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (a.k.a. The Penguin), Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman), Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean, Zabryna Guevara as Gotham PD Captain Essen and guest star Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma (a.k.a. The Riddler). Are you guys excited?

This series will blow minds........Its the world of Batman.

I hope they jump years for each season.......we'll get to see a young Bruce traveling the world.

I recommend this for reading...

Brubaker & Rucka

Batman only appears once or twice throughout the 40 issues.

"It doesn't even matter if the series is "good" or not. Its another unnecessary Batman production that we have nothing to gain from."

I'm waiting to see the pilot before I judge. It doesn't sound like the best idea, but it is a cop drama, and those do well on tv.

I wonder if the people who are already dismissing this show know about the huge rich history with Gotham pre-Batman. This is a chance to highlight those things and not just Batman.

They most likely don't. I'm willing to bet they are "Batman" fans because they liked the Nolan movies and think that's what Batman is all about.

I'll give the pilot a chance, and if it's good I will watch more. Right now for me personally the whole show has nothing on the 'pro' side but Donal Logue.
