New Three Minute Featurette Takes Us Behind-The-Scenes Of GOTHAM

The past week or so has seen the release of trailers, stills and character posters for Gotham, and following the news that the Batman prequel has a full season order at Fox, we now have a new featurette which takes us behind the scenes of the highly anticipated TV series.

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker. GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

Putting aside the liberties this is taking, it looks awesome.

BatManiac lol. I thought it was decent. It did bother me in the beginning when he said it will focus on the rise of the villains, but I'm still holding out hope it will put more emphasis on crime families and GCPD corruption.

@Batmaniac Didn't you say in another Gotham thread that you wouldn't be like most idiots here and repeat themselves when it comes to show they have no interest in? I mean, we get it. You don't like, want, or care for the show.

I'll give the pilot a chance, it looks pretty cool so far.

sh*t show is sh*t

seeing bullock call Gordon kid is so f*cking weird
also not knowing how joker became joker is part of the whole draw of that character

Looks like we got confirmation of Scarecrow in this. He's one of the few villains I picture being old enough to not be a kid still if Bruce is only 12. Looks good though. Any idea who the guy in the black hood thing is supposed to be?

Still feels like a show that's scared too embrace it's comic book origins. A usual police procedural that will still be using key characters well before they should be even villains as awkward wink wink nods to the fans and mainstream viewers to make this seem different from Law and Order. Like someone said above this should be more focused on the police department and mob families, but I guess names like Rupert Thorne don't sell in a trailer. Still have a problem with any of these villains being near establishment without any Batman. I don't mind a show about Gordon, but their going about this the wrong way from what it seems.

NightForce
NightForce - 5/13/2014, 2:47 PM
Still not sure how I feel about this show. It looks good but they are putting too much focus on "Look at the junior heroes and villains!" And why is Selina Kyle Catwoman as a little girl? And isn't the whole reason that crime in Gotham escalates and becomes costumed super crime because of Batman?? I have a rotten feeling in my gut that were gonna see Gordon go head-to-head with villains before we see Batman.

@bluedude, just shut the frick up. You hate the show, we get it. We don't care. Stop beig such a troll.

I am honsetly surprised that I'm saying this, but this is looking better and better each time new footage is released. I f-x wit it.
NightForce
NightForce - 5/13/2014, 3:24 PM
I hope this is just for marketing and the actual show focuses on the Mafia and organized crime and not young supervillains. Or costumed criminals appearing before Batman.
"You may miss meeting the Joker for the first time" FACEPALM

Ugh, this makes me cringe. The whole point of the Joker is NO ONE KNOWS WHO (or what) HE IS! Hell Joker may as well not even be human! He's this terrifying being who lives to cause chaos and death.

The city looks so damn awesome.

PUMPED

F the haters complaining about changes. A Batman show will never be in the cards. I'd rather have a new take on the Batman continuity/villains than none at all.

You dilute the potency of characters like the joker when you provide too much backstory. Ledgers joker was so badass because he was so enigmatic. That being said I am way more pumped for this show after watching that. Looks better quality than I imagined
Super12
Super12 - 5/14/2014, 4:33 AM
@Shadowoftheweb - my thoughts exactly. I wish theyd leave joker alone but I know they wont. But this video gave me a lot more confidence in the show, it looks amazing.

Batmaniac and bluedude, just go away already. We get it, you get your jollies off of the attention you get from being the anti-gotham people. For the love of god just stop it though, its so freaking annoying to read you guys complaining like children (actually, you probably are children) on every article.
