Jackson Rathbone Wants To Play The Riddler In 'Batman 3'

Jackson Rathbone, the young actor who plays Jasper Cullen in the Twilight films has added his name to the list of actors interested in playing The Riddler in 'Batman 3.'

It seems like almost all the time now that actors express their interest in playing The Riddler in Christopher Nolan's third Batman film. Actors such as Brian Austin Green, David Tennant, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dane Cook, Robin Williams, Adrien Brody, Johnny Depp, Andy Serkis, Eddie Murphy, and Michael C. Hall have all let it be known that they would be interested in taking up the role and now comes another name that can be added to this list - Jackson Rathbone.

Rathbone plays Jasper Cullen in the Twilight films and is arguably one of the most talented actors to come out of the film series.

When Jackson Rathbone was at Melanie Segal's T.J. Maxx-sponsored Celebrity Retreat on Wednesday, August 5th, when asked by Hollywood Life about playing The Riddler: "Are you kidding me? I would do that at the drop of a hat!" He continued on as he joked, "I'm not going to take my hat off now, but that would be awesome." On the serious note, he explained, "That is the kind of role I like. I like character parts."

Rathone is a pretty good actor. I guess I would not be against his playing The Riddler. Considering all the brilliant talents that could be cast, Rathbone is not someone I would immediately want for it.

'Batman 3' is expected to be directed by Christopher Nolan, and be released on July 20, 2012. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman are expected to return.

i'm not sure,i haven't seen him act.

Wait, Dane Cook wants to play the Riddler? The only DC role I can see him possibly playing is the Flash.

He played Sokka? I want to say [frick] no because of that but there have been plenty of amazing actors that just handed out shitty performances in recent M. Night Shamalan's films so I guess I cant judge just from that. Whoever Nolan wants, I trust him

He is a great actor. In The LastAirbender he was one of the few people who kept me from walking out. But he's not the riddler.

He's a good actor?! WTF people? Aside from the 'Twilight' series and 'Airbender', what has this CHILD ever done to deserve such a role? His acting 'ability' is flat and uninspired (much like all of his peers in 'Twilight'). As for "Airbender'... don't get me started, you don't even want to know! So he wants to play the Riddler in the next Bat film? Well good, now he knows what it's like to WANT! No.... HELL NO to this human cardboard cut-out! EARN it first, then we'll talk...

He can't act. His two roles I've seen him in consist of keeping a straight face and saying lines soullessly. Looks the part, can't be the part. He has absolutely no range.

@Creature, Have you seen most of Johnny Depp's roles almost all of them are exactly what you describe but he is always being sad to be a great actor by the way Rathbone reminds me of Depp.

There's always more talented actors for a role but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be good as The Riddler.I would like to see him as The Riddler it would be interesting.

riddle and catwoman will not appear in batman 3, for they have appeared in films already. goyer and nolan are doing what they did in begins where two where unknowns, so it is quite obvious that nolan will do that again
hugo strange and black mask, and last i checked nolan doesnt listen to anyone but himself and his crew

joseph gordon levitt is the perfect fit for the riddler.. the perfect riddler was the '60s t.v. show riddler and i think joseph gordon levitt can do that riddler to a bigger and better extent

"...the perfect riddler was the '60s t.v. show riddler..."

yankeemanf - WTF? Saying Frank Gorshin's Riddler was perfect is like saying Cesar Romero's Joker was better than Ledger's! The 60's TV show shouldn't even be COUNTED in Batman lore - it was a JOKE (LITERALLY) that set the characters back 30 years!
yankeemanf
yankeemanf - 8/10/2010, 7:58 AM
the riddler was the only one of the characters that was well acted and i mean the psycological part of his riddler was perfect that he was obsessed with the riddles and thought he was betta than every1 else and i think JGL can take that riddler and make him the extravagant sociopath we need for batman 3
DudeOfSteel16
DudeOfSteel16 - 8/10/2010, 9:24 AM
I agree with yankeemanf. That's the kind of character that Levitt could run with.

I am sorta sick of all thes people coming forward to play the Riddler.... I think it should just go to Leo or Johnny Depp then hell lets put Mr. Freeze in there with ummm... Edward Norton playing him. I feel Norton would play it amazingly and really make you hate and care about Freeze at the same time.

XxBatmanCrusaderxX - 8/10/2010, 2:10 PM
who cares... as long as hes done right. besides, the riddler wont be the biggest role, it will probably focus more on the new mob leader. (Black Mask, Penguin, TWO-FACE!!!!?)

I'm down. He did the character well in Twilight, and he was awesome in S. Darko. So I'm totally good with this. I think the kid has a promising career.

Michael C Hall fits best for Nolans world (would also be ok with JGL). Kind of sick of reading "Depp for Riddler", only in Burton's Batmans would Depp work. Depp should stick to ruining disney movies. Depp also has too high of a salary to be in Nolan's cast.

i was good in S. Darko... he might work for The Riddler but there are other i would like to see in the part
he would have been a pretty good Sokka if his lines were better

he looks passable for the looks and if rathbone is passable for acting skill needed for riddler i would say it is only just. Then again i think only JGL and Casey Affleck are good for Riddler in Nolan's version so I'm a tad biased
