Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has revealed the Blu-ray/DVD release date for Doug Liman's critically acclaimed Edge of Tomorrow. The film, which was based on the Japanese sci-fi novel All You Need Is Kill, starred superstar Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible) as Major William Cage & Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau) as Rita Vrataski (aka the Full Metal Bitch; Angel of Verdun). It will arrive on Blu-ray/DVD combo packs October 7th.

The film holds a 90% fresh rating on review aggregator RottenTomatoes and showed some real legs this summer in grossing over $360 million worldwide. It's debatate whether or not the sleeper hit would've done better had it not been released on such a competitive date, but regardless it still managed to hold its own and left its summer audience satisfied.

A few cool special features, that you can check out below, will be included on the Blu-ray/DVD combo set including an "Adrenaline Cut." Whether or not this is an extended cut of the film has yet to be seen, but that would be pretty sweet. Take a look, and also check out the cover art that follows!

  • Operation Downfall
  • Adrenaline Cut
  • Storming The Beach
  • Weapons Of The Future
  • Creatures Not Of This World
  • On The Edge With Doug Liman
  • Deleted Scenes

Oscar nominee Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt star in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," under the direction of Doug Liman. The epic action of "Edge of Tomorrow" unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Edge of Tomorrow features:
Director: Doug Liman
Tom Cruise as Lt. Col. William "Bill" Cage
Emily Blunt as Rita Vrataski
Bill Paxton as General Farrell Bartolome
Jeremy Piven as Col. Walter Marx
Brendan Gleeson as General Brigham
Lara Pulver as Karen Lord
Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Dr. Whittle
Jonas Armstrong as Skinner
Kick Gurry as Griff
Kidus Henok as Lewis
Tony Way as Kimmel
Madeleine Mantock as Julie
Dragomir Mrsic as Kuntz
Charlotte Riley as Nance

Know I’ve done wrong,
Left your heart torn
Is that what devils do?
Took you so low,
Where only fools go
I shook the angel in you

Now I’m rising from the ground
Rising up to you
Filled with all the strength I found
There's nothing I can’t do!

I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?
I need to know now, know now
Can you love me again?

Can you love me again?

Great movie, got that John Newman track stuck in my head again.

@McNyagano: Unexpectedly great? It was directed by Doug Liman who is physically incapable of directing a bad movie. :/

Such a great movie and nice to have a movie not based on a well known property.

If Hollywood would go back to making original scripts like they used to, movies would rock again (not hating on marvel or dc, just hating on Hollywood not taking chances with untested properties).

Great movie but the title was generic and forgettable. 'All You Need is Kill' or 'Live. Die. Repeat.' would have been much better; much more attention-grabbing.

Hope the Adrenaline Cut contains the darker more haunting ending as well as the ending that adheres to the principles of the rules of time travel explained throughout the film. Really liked the movie but am still scratching my head on the ending. I think like The Mist when you put a not necessarily happy ending on some films they leave a lasting mark that always haunts and is more memorable in the long run.

.....happy endings although emotionally satisfying are easy to process, forget, and move on from. If i was a film maker i would want my audience to stew over my creation as long as possible.

@Gusto

It really is awesome. One of the best action movies I've seen in a while and I'm not even remotely close to a Tom Cruise fan.
