Jurassic World's now famous genetically engineered hybrid dinosaur may have just received a serious name change. Instagram user jurassic_world2015 has posted an updated product listing for the upcoming Jurassic World toyline, revealing with it that the genetically modified hybrid, which was rumored for a long time to have been named the Diabolus Rex or D-Rex, has been renamed to the Indominus Rex, which translates into "Untamable or Fierce King."

It was rumored for a while that the genetically engineered dinosaur had received a name change, but no solid evidence of any such alteration had presented itself until now. The updated product listing, along with the Indominus Rex name reveal, also shows off a few of the products we can expect in the oncoming months as we approach the release of the highly anticipated Colin Trevorrow-directed film. Check it out for yourself below:

Genetically modified hybrid dinosaurs? Chris Pratt taming raptors? This movie sounds awful.

Yeah, "Diabolus" was pretty ass. Sounds like a rejected Sith Lord from a SW prequel.

Sounds like this is going to be a parody...

"Doesn't that mean the name is never actually said in the movie?"

Most likely, then again they'll probably just call it something generic like 'The Experiment'

All JP dinosaurs are genetically modified hybrids, technically. And raptor-trainer Peter Quill will be great. This movie will fail for other reasons.

Because they're cheesy as [frick]. You got a franchise that can literally use any dinosaur ever known and they have to create their own hybrid to up the ante? They're jumping the shark.

I'm one of the few who liked Diabolus Rex :)
Cheesy for sure, but it had a kind of pulp quality to it, too.
While its meaning is cool, Indominus Rex sounds too much like Ominous Rex, which is a little cartoony.

But who cares, really, as long as the dino itself looks dreadfully cool :)

Now it actually sounds like a scientific name and not something that should have tattooed flames down its side, so that's an improvement.

The full name would be easily enough to dub into any shot scenes with just a brief recording session with the actors... I'm sure they already have such time scheduled. If they knew they weren't 100% happy with the name while filming, they probably purposefully shot and edited any scene where someone says it in a way that would disguise the change.
