Oliver Is Back To Action In International Promo For ARROW Season 3 Episode 12: "Uprising"

Next week's Arrow promises to be a big one as the Emerald Archer finally makes his way back to Star City and it looks like his timing couldn't have been any better with Malcolm Merlyn joining the team!

MALCOLM MAKES AN OFFER TO HELP TEAM ARROW - Still operating without Oliver (Stephen Amell) and desperate to stop Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones), Team Arrow is forced to consider Malcolm's (John Barrowman) offer to help shut Brick down as Malcolm has a personal score to settle with the felon. Roy (Colton Haynes) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) point out that the team could use some help to save the innocents of The Glades, but Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is adamantly against it. They look to Diggle to make the final decision. Meanwhile, the flashbacks chronicle Malcolm's descent from kind-hearted father and husband to cold-blooded killer after the murder of his wife. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Brian Ford Sullivan (#312).

In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen — not as long as the city needs The Arrow.

Arrow features:
Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Arrow
Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak
David Ramsey as John Diggle
Willa Holland as Thea Queen
Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance
Colton Haynes as Roy Harper/Arsenal
Paul Blackthorne as Captain Quentin Lance
John Barrowman as Malcolm Merlyn/Dark Archer
Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke
Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom
Karl Yune as Maseo Yamashiro/Sarab
Rila Fukushima as Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana
Katrina Law as Nyssa al Ghul
Matt Nable as Ra's al Ghul

I really hope the timeline jumps forward a few months to make sense of Oliver's recovery. It should have to better justify Brick taking over the city with ease just because Oliver was gone for a couple days!

Seriously, the Arrow isn't seen for a few days and the city's criminals, gangs and police noticed??? Not to mention, how do they know that wasn't Oliver in the green hood not Diggle?

It's just frustrating when this show has shown it can be great in the past, but this season has been disappointing. What makes it frustrating is Flash has been that much better which really exposes Arrow's underwhelming season. I really liked last week's episode, but come on.

Unless, they explain this magic that brought him back to life AND expedited the healing/recovery time, he should need weeks or months to recover before he's suited up again in Starling City.

Don't think it's gonna be a tv spot, the teaser is too long for that.

But it is coming very soon, hmm maybe they'll release it and then put up an extended version online? Could be

Man I never actually cringed at anything in this show but Laurel in a suit its just not going too well. This has to be the worst forced character arc that anyone have come up with.

And to top all off with Roy saying "You Have Failed This City" Man what were the creators thinking of to let a child say a man's line.

Instead of focusing the arc while Oliver is gone on the stronger supporting characters, Diggle and Felicity, they chose to focus on the strongly hated and least worthy supporting characters, Laurel and Roy. I can't deal anymore.

Here's the thing, I mean The Terminator Genisys tv spot released without much build up to it. I mean they could just decided to release a tv spot and then an extended version, like Marvel did with The Avengers.

And that site has been very legit interms of superbowl tv spots and adds as it shows the advertisers, so if they put it up there, then you can bet it's happening.

Looks like t's coming sooner than expected

@Mego

I definitely want the show to be better because it clearly has the potential to be great and I've seen it be great before. I've been able to overlook little things here and there because after all it is a CW show, but you can only sweep so much under the rug before it becomes noticeable. If that makes sense. haha.

And I agree about Gotham too. If you really want these big events/cliffhangers to have a lasting impact, do just that!!! Take half or the remainder of the season to repair and fix the impact caused by Oliver's death not a couple episodes. I realize the show is called Arrow and they want the Arrow involved, well you know what?? DON'T KILL HIM THEN! hahahahaha. Seriously. Don't write yourselves into corners, you're doing it to yourselves.

And if that's the reason, the have the next episode take place a month or a few months after last week. Team Arrow start to better figure things out as a group with Laurel in the fold, Ray is further along developing his ATOM suit and Oliver is almost back to 100% and ready to suit-up. I know he's getting back to protect Thea, but in his condition and given his experience with Malcom, he's better capable of protecting her than Oliver.

Maybe it just frustrates me because I expect better from the show.

There should have been no Oliver scenes / flashbacks for these 3 episodes. Focus on the characters that have been lacking screen time.. Diggle etc. Leave us with some mystery.
Then have Oliver swing in in epic fashion (As seen in the teaser) to the battle with Brick's men.
Then the following episode dedicated to what happened after his 'Death' with some flashbacks.

The writers seriously dropped the ball with bringing Oliver back onto the screen so fast.

You guys don't believe they'll follow the other "plan" of releasing it in front of "Jupiter Ascending"? If nothing else, for the sake of generating better buzz for that movie?

Also, I think that since many fans of Arrow have considered this season somewhat lackluster thus far(with exceptions for crossover episodes)it might indeed persuade the show runners to incorporate more cross over events than we all expected to get in the first place.

@ABetterTomorrow

You're right. I am being a little overly critical because I expect better from the show knowing they're capable of good storylines and I just haven't enjoyed this season as much as last season. Maybe the anticipation of Deathstroke had more to do with it and I haven't really cared about the flashback storylines this season as much.

Also, I wonder if some of the more main writers/decision makers are spreading themselves too thin between getting Flash up and running, ha!, AND working on Arrow. I mean Flash has been solid so far, especially in comparison to Arrow. Hopefully, those same writers/decision makers focus/attention isn't spread even thinner when they start working on Supergirl as well. I know they film in the same location, so proximity isn't a concern, but that's a lot of juggling of time, focus and attention across three shows instead of one or even two. Maybe, Supergirl won't film or air during the time as Arrow/Flash to avoid this potential concern.

Why are people only realising now that Arrow is a mediocre show? I thought the increasing focus on the two most hated characters Laurel and Roy would have helped tip people off when that started, but at this point it is just really bad writing.

You've now written into it the idea of resurrection, so how are we meant to believe their is any suspense left in the show when any character can be resurrected. Half expect a twist at this point that Rebecca Merlyn is actually really alive ¬.¬

@Scarilion
First off they have been very vague on whether he was literally brought back to life or just brought back from the brink of death.
Secondly resurrection exists in the dc universe comics and death still means something (or as much as it does in any other comic :-S)
Thirdly it appears that only one character has this ability- the likelihood of her surviving the season or being easy to locate in future are very slim.

Also did you never watch Dragonball?
