Anna Paquin Would Be Interested In Playing The X-MEN's 'Rogue' Again On One Condition
We'll all see Anna Paquin's Rogue once again this summer when the X-Men: Days Of Future Past - Rogue Cut arrives, but will this be her last time suiting up as the fan-favorite mutant? Paquin's recent comments suggest otherwise.. Come check it out!
Even though Anna Paquin's Rogue was heavily featured in the early promotional material for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, she later saw almost all of her scenes cut due to a pacing issue and was left with a brief, but special, cameo near the tail-end of the blockbuster film. This move likely benefitted the film, which went on to be well-received by critics and fans alike, but her exclusion still left many fans of the long-running franchise wanting, especially after Rogue had been such an integral part of the first three films. Due to the high volume of fan interest, it wasn't long before Fox announced that they would release a special X-Men: Days Of Future Past - Rogue Cut in the summer of 2015, which would include Paquin's sequences and more.
It was easy to assume that this would likely be the last time we'd see Paquin suit up as the fan-favorite mutant. Or would it? Based on recent comments, it looks like the Academy Award-winning actress wouldn't be against returning to the role for a fifth time in the future, but she does have one condition.. check out her comments from a recent Twitter Q&A below:
Well, that's certainly a fair demand. One of the major gripes fans have had with the cinematic Rogue is that she's nowhere near as powerful as her comic counterpart, who like Paquin stated above, does fly and also has a few other awesome powers.
As of this posting, Rogue is not expected to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, but there is always a chance she could show up in the Channing Tatum-starrer Gambit. Paquin is a proven, Academy Award-winning actress and is still only 32, she could fit right in with the 34-year-old Tatum. Also, as we all know, following the events of DOFP, the timeline has changed significantly, so an older Rogue showing up in this new timeline is not exactly out of the question.
Another, possibly better, option would be the Wolverine 3, which is expected to be long-time X-Men star Hugh Jackman's farewell to the franchise. She was rumored to be a part of the original script for 2013's The Wolverine, but it might be even more fitting for her to appear in the sequel. The two characters shared a strong bond in the original trilogy, so the highly anticipated James Mangold-directed film could show them coming full circle and saying goodbye.
