Haha the continued hate over this film is hilarious. It looks like an entertaining movie. There are numerous interpretations and 'universe' versions of each superhero character out there. It's not that big of a deal to change the heritage of one of the characters...I would have preferred it to not have been, but the hate is just ridiculous.

The movie has a very serious/grown up feel to it, which is fresh compared to the cheesy, campy, goof-ball films we got in the 90s of the same characters.

The director LOVES the Fantastic Four and that is why he chose to make the film. I love that when it was first advertised everyone on this site said 'this is gonna flop' and hated on it. After the first trailer -- that began to change.
Never is the source material EXACTLY like any single individual ONE of us sees something in our minds. I remember Harry Potter looked different in my mind prior to the first film -- and those movies went on to make major bank. Get over the bashing, folks. Seriously it's unbecoming and makes the site a drag.
I like to live by the idea and the outlook that -- regardless of the different styles of directors, artists, creative minds, and producers in this world: I never judge anything until I have seen it for myself.

Lol it's pretty sad that when I go to a Fantastic Four article, I can predict almost EXACTLY the type of shit I'm going to read. Like word for word.

Anyway, this movie looks freakin awesome and I hope it blows away expectations.

Cool! The Thing in action is awesome. The tv spot reminds me of the first SpiderMan in 2002.

The lack of Dr.Doom is disturbing. I mean they really don't showcase the plot of this movie in any of their promos.

The critics will crush this movie and then bad word of mouth will deliver the killing blow. All these DC fanboys/Marvel haters who are suddenly in love with the Fantastic Four will then have to go elsewhere for their Young Adult fix, I'm afraid.

@burningblue52: You sound like someone who owns Divergent on bluray, may I recommend the Fault in our Stars...that's right up your alley. :/

The only ones excited for this movie are the ones who never cracked the spine of a Fantastic Four comic book.

@Tetrahedron

Ah yes because somehow you know what critics will think two months in advance - you must be some genius. Just because a film is using the ever more popular sub-genre of an, i dont know, 'teenager' thing doesn't make it necessarily bad, its just a different interpretation. If you're so close minded.

Let me see... Oh i like marvel and DC that's strange...

Obviously you have your head so far up the MCU's collective ass that you genuinely cant see any other film without having to compare it to the MCU...

Accept that there's such a a thing as 'creative interpretation' and get over yourself...

Other than that it does seem pretty okay to me. I'm probably the only person who doesn't care about studios or rights... Just make a good film.

The beginning of the spot with young Reed (and young Ben?) and the transition to older Reed was probably my favourite thing of all that I've seen of the movie so far. I need more of that!

I mean, yeah, of course you need to show off their powers and all. But let's face it - they're not very spectacular visually, and they're nothing particularly original. We've seen an at least equally cool looking guy on fire in DoFP, we've seen a big strong dude in the Avengers, and Reed's stretching just doesn't look very good tbh.

Then there's the story... or is there? So far we've been shown very little in terms of actual plot aside from "bunch of guys tries dimensional travel and gets powers and then... has powers. They're with the military and maybe there's some kind of villain somewhere too". That's only moderately intriguing.

So please, please - give me more of the damn family themselves! Show me who these characters are, how they're connected, what they're like. Show me chemistry, banter, emotions. The four are all likeable, talented actors, so please show me a little more of what they did with the roles.

This is a movie that I will not automatically buy a ticket to watch. This is a movie that needs to be sold to me. So far they're just not doing too great a job with that... :(

This movie has a lot of hurdles to overcome to convince the general audience to come en masse.

First of all, there are not one but three previous FF4 that were all so bad that they tarnished the property even bigger than Batman and Robin did for Batman and eroded the general audience for it.

Second as bad as the Tim Story movies were, the general audience got attached to the actors and a new team often leads with a lower audience.

Finally, as good as this movie can be, straying too much from the peception the general audience had of what an FF4 movie should be based on the previous movies, will be a hit and a miss, alienating a part of that audience.

So is this going to be a light hearted joke fest, as I swear every interview from the cast and crew have mentioned it to be dark, and gritty.

Yup.
That was a great TV spot that will make people interested in the movie.

There are numerous interpretations and 'universe' versions of each superhero character out there.
Yup. There are. One is real and rest are alternates. In other words, one was created and the rest were copied. One HAD to come first. But don't let that bother you.

It will probably be a great, entertaining film. I don't know. I COULD be awesome.

That doesn't mean it will be the definitive FF.
THAT movie has yet to be conceived.

It's super funny how some react though. For those that like the "different, equally valid direction" that Trank/Fox is taking, I hope you truly enjoy the film. Stop getting so hot and bothered that most people see it as an bastardization of Lee and Kirby's original work (later expanded and celebrated by Thomas, Conway, and Byrne). Stop trying to convince us that it's the "real" FF. We all know it's not.
All the matters when your in the theater is that YOU are having a good time. And the general audiences may enjoy it too. But they're aloud to be ignorant of its derivative origins.

I may even have fun at The Ultimate 4 Fantastic movie. Could be great.
