Here are some of post-premiere Twitter reactions:
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.

The Martian features:
Director: Ridley Scott

Donald Glover as Rich Purnell
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Venkat Kapoor

correct me if I'm wrong, but this ISN'T a comic book movie right? It's based on a novel and really has nothing to do with comic books. What's with the generic movie updates on every damn blockbuster lately?

Definitely going to see this movie! Heck I would go see it just for the cast alone.

as long as it's better than Interstellar, I was so let down by that movie

"Better than Interstellar"? Confirmed, Nolan is trash.

I have to laugh at the guy trying to compliment this film by comparing it to "Armageddon".

The only film I'm looking forward to before the big Christmas Star Wars onslaught.

Infinitemonkey- I read the book after watching the first trailer. It kept me reading. Great book - and not bad for having no pictures!

Just hope it's not this years Gravity. That was a nice looking, boring, lazy a$$ film.

read the book and loved it...glad to hear the movie adaptation stays true to that story line. Mark Watney was hilarious and at times brilliant in the novel and i can't wait to see what Matt Damon does with the character.
