Hugh Jackman Offers WOLVERINE 3 Script Update: "Wants To Leave Everything On The Table"
In 2017, fans worldwide will say farewell to one of the most iconic portrayals of a superhero ever when Hugh Jackman says goodbye to the role that made him a star, Wolverine. In a recent interview, the Academy Award-nominee shared an update on the script & more!
"I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do best isn't very nice."
In 2017, after eighteen amazing years and eight (potentially ten) films, long-time X-Men star Hugh Jackman will finally hang up the claws and bid farewell to Wolverine. It'll be an emotional goodbye for the Academy Award-nominated actor as well as for fans everywhere that grew up watching him. However, before it's all said and done, he still has one last adventure ahead of him in the form of a third solo Wolverine feature, which will reunite him with his X-Men co-star Patrick Stewart and maybe even see him reappear alongside a few other familiar faces from the original trilogy. Additionally, even though there hasn't been any official word yet, there's a fairly good chance he shows up in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse and there's also an outside shot he appears in the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Deadpool.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jackman offered up a status update on the script for his next and final Wolverine solo outing, saying that he and James Mangold have been hard at work on the script for the past few months and that they're "at about page 60 right now," which considering the length of most big-budget screenplays nowadays is probably right around the halfway point. He goes on to share his immense excitement for the project and also reveals that he has yet to set a start date for some very good reasons:
"I don't have a start date because, we're not going to have start dates until we have that script perfect. It matters too much to me, I care too much about the character, about the audience, and when you say it's going to be your last one... I just want to leave everything on the table, absolutely everything."
