Michael Bay Confirms 'Krang' For TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS

As part of a profile with Rolling Stone, director Michael Bay touched on the post-production work for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows. During the lengthy piece, Bay more or less confirms the presence of classic TMNT villain, Krang. Come check it out!

As the release date for Michael Bay's latest directorial venture, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldieres Of Benghazi, nears, Rolling Stone has released their extensive interview with the director where he somewhat inadvertently reveals a handful of very interesting details about a couple of his upcoming projects, including Paramount PicturesTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows.

It's been known for quite some time that the upcoming sequel to the hit 2014 film would feature the return of The Shredder as well as the introduction of a pair of classic TMNT villains, Bebop & Rocksteady, but would that be it? After the release of the first official trailer, which contained a handful of well-placed Easter eggs, many fans began to wonder if the sequel would feature the live-action debut of another classic Turtles villain - Krang. Based on recent comments from Bay, who serves as a producer on the feature, it sounds like we most definitely will.

During their chat with Bay, Rolling Stone witnessed a conversation between Bay and visual-effects supervisor Pablo Helmen where Bay was offering his opinion on Krang's final look. Check out the exchange below:

They start with Ninja Turtles animation. Pablo Helman, a visual-effects supervisor who worked on the Star Wars prequels, appears onscreen and shows Bay the latest version of Krang, a new-to-the-movies villain who is, essentially, a disembodied brain inside a giant robot. "So we've eliminated the tentacles," Helman explains. "Is it too monster-ish?"

"He could have some tentacles," says Bay. "I just don't want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus."

Considering how good and comic-accurate both Bebop & Rocksteady look, it sounds like Bay & company are hard at work making sure Krang looks just as good, if not better.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

The Ninja Turtles comes into conflict with T.C.R.I. scientist Dr. Baxter Stockman with the association of the Foot Clan and the return of the Shredder, who has hired Stockman to create mutants of their own in the form of Bebop and Rocksteady and an unknown invasion above New York City. To prevent the end of the world, the turtles and their human friends April O'Neil and Vern Fenwick comes to the aid with vigilante Casey Jones.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles features:
Director: Dave Green
Alan Ritchson as Raphael
Pete Ploszek/Johnny Knoxville as Leonardo
Noel Fisher as Michelangelo
Jeremy Howard as Donatello
Megan Fox as April O'Neil
Stephen Amell as Casey Jones
Will Arnett as Vern Fenwick

"I just don't want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus."

Honestly, this movie already has four mutated giant talking turtles, a human-turned talking rhino, and a human-turned talking warthog; Krang looking like an octopus shouldn't really be something to worry about.

despite the fact that i didn't love the first one (as i recall the plot sucked) the trailer for the second one got me excited. The trailer basically got the old cartoon series vibe. Shredder with blades, Bebop and Rocksteady ... I'm in. With right plot and Krang in the mix this one should be a lot better than the first one. I'm sure that Michelangelo and Ralph will own this movie. Not sure about Leo and Donnie though.

Nice try, Bay. Ain't no way I'm sitting through another terrible explosion filled TMNT movie especially with Megan Fox running around pretending to act lol. I'll stick to the 80's cartoon for Kang and Beebop/Rocksteady, thanks

The turtles look as realistic as you can make 6ft ninja turtles look. They have scars and bumps and their shells are chipped. Rocksteady and Bebop don't look as realistic. They look good just not as good as the turtles.

Hopefully, this movie will be fun. Having Casey Jones, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang all be in the sequel will help.

@MovieMonster- Overcrowding isn't the problem. It's how well executed it is that matters most.

Besides I am ecstatic Krang will finally be in a live action TMNT film. I've wanted that since I was a child growing up in the early 90's with the old movies.

We've HAD Shredder in 4 movies now including this new upcoming one. NO MORE SHREDDER.

Krang offers something new and fresh and besides in the old cartoon, I seem to recall Krang always being Shredder's boss. Krang HAS to appear at SOME point

What if William Fichtner's character Eric Sacks, was actually Krang this whole time? I think that would be a more interesting twist.

People complain that Bay and Paramount destroyed the Turtles....

You guys realize that the turtles we all grew up with were just destroyed and kiddied up versions of the comics created for no other reason than to sell toys, right?

Also, every time there is a new Turtles series or comic or movie things get changed. In some, Hamato Yoshi is Splinter....in others Splinter was Hamato Yoshi's pet rat. In some Krang was the name of one alien. In others The Krang are the name of an entire race of aliens. In one series Shredder WAS a Krang alien. In the OG comics April was a lab assistant for Baxter Stockman. In most she's a TV news reporter. In the current cartoon she's a high school student.

These changes fundamentally change the origins and backstories of these characters and its been happening ever since the first time the turtles moved on from their original comic creations. The one thing that should matter most is that the personalities of these characters are intact, and that seems to be the case.

The common thread that ties all of these series together is the fact that we've got 4 teenage turtles trained in ninjutsu: one is the extremely disciplined leader, one is the immature yet funny party animal, another is the overly cocky, headstrong dick that doesn't take orders well but probably has the biggest heart of them all, and finally the genius level scientist that creates all their toys. All led by a master ninja that happens to be a rat who has a past grudge with a crime lord who is also a master ninja in a walking cheese grater costume.

Changes are going to happen. For me, as long as the main characters are all the same in that sense, i'm fine with change.

That doesn't necessarily mean i liked all of the changes in this last movie. Splinter learning ninjutsu from a book was stupid. April being the owners of the turtles before their mutatiin was a bit too coincedental. But at the end of the day, change doesn't ruin the turtles, because again, probably the biggest change in turtle history happened way back when the comics were changed from a violent adult series into a cheesy children's cartoon that most of you claim to be the one and only true versionof the turtles. The only reason you guys loved the old cartoon was because you were kids when it came out. Its the equivalent of Marvel taking the ultraviolent Punisher and creating an animated series where he fights people with water guns and tells jokes the whole time. If they did that now, while you all are older, you would HATE it.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 1/5/2016, 5:32 AM
Point is, the only change that mattered was when they changed the entire tone of the series by removing the darkness and violence from the OG comics. Compared to that, every change since then hasn't been so bad......
