The Defenders were a loosely organized team of fictional characters, mostly but not solely superheroes, in the Marvel Universe. For much of their history there was no clear distinction between "official", honorary, and associate members or even allies. Thus, the Defenders had a reputation as being a non-team, a term which was coined in the pages of the comic.

The Cast:

Gary Oldman as Stephen Vincent Strange/Doctor Strange
Oldman is a fantastic actor with more than enough experience. He has a good intelligent and professional look that Doctor Strange needs. He can play a nice guy like Jim Gordon or dark like Carnegie is Book of Eli

Second Choice

Christian Bale as Stephen Vincent Strange/Doctor Strange
Many people will hate this pick because they hate Bale either for his performance as Batman or his bad temper, but you can't argue that he is a good actor. He did great in the Machinist and as Bruce Wayne. He is extremely dedicated to acting and would make a great Doctor Strange.

Edward Norton as Bruce Banner/The Hulk
If it ain't broken don't fix it

Jason Behr as Namor the Sub-Mariner
The guy has the look down and it wouldn't be hard for him to pull off the bad ass angry Atlantian. Behr has done some great TV and small movies that prove his acting.

Zachary Quinto as Norrin Radd/The Silver Surfer
Quntio has the right alien look for the Surfer. I'm not just picking him because he played an alien in Star Trek, but he did prove good acting in that movie. He is also one of the only good things in Heroes. He has the voice and presence for the role.

Matt Damon as Dane Whitman/The Black Knight
The guy is a great actor no doubt. He knows how to fight and be intense, just what Black Knight needs. I originally wanted him for Captain America but I would settle for this. he may look a little old, but he could pull it off.

Piper Perabo as Brunnhilde of Asgard/Valkyrie
The girl is a great up and comer. She has had some great roles in the past and has her own show coming out on TNT. She has the type of Asgardian look that would look great working with Thor and the Defenders.

Mandy Moore as Namorita
I give credit to JoshW for this pick cause I really couldn't find someone for her.

Mark Wahlberg as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Mark Wahlberg is one of my personal favorite actors and I find him the perfect choice for Hawkeye. Hawkeye needs to be a bad ass and Wahlberg has played one in The Departed and May Payne. I feel that Hawkeye should be close to Iron Man's age so they can have a closer rivalry and Mark and Robert would be great opposite each other.

Liam Neeson as Charles Xavier/ Professor X
The man is a solid actor and would be great for the leader of the X-Men. He is great in every role and has the voice and could have the look for a young or old Professor X.

Michael Fassbender as Kyle Richmond/Nighthawk
Fassbender has been casted in many CBM roles on here, but I think he's perfect for Nighthawk. He's a bad ass ready to fight for justice and Fassbender could pull that off.

Alexander Skarsgard as Daimon Hellstrom/Son of Satan
The guy looks seriously looks like he's dead. I don't know why, but whenever I see him that's what I think. He looks like the perfect Son of Satan and even better he can act. He should have been Thor in my opinion and still deserves a CBM role.

Michael Jai White as Carl Lucas/Luke Cage
This guy is a bad ass and that's exactly whats needed for Luke Cage. Tyrese Gibson is the wrong choice and White deserves it. He can kick ass and act, just whats needed for cage.

Jason Statham as Matt Murdock/Dare Devil
Alright I know many will hate this choice with a burning passion, but hear me out. There is no doubt that this guy can kick ass and has a sweet voice. Under the Dare Devil mask he would be perfect. He would even be great as a blind lawyer. When he was rumored for the part I was excited for the confirmation that never came. Too bad cause he would have been great. My other choice, like many others is Michael C. hall.

Wade Williams as Ben Grimm/The Thing
Williams has the look down pat, his acting might not be Oscar worthy but he's not bad either. He would be great for a motion capture and voice-over Thing, which I think is the best way to handle it.

Mathew Morrison as Hank Pym/Yellowjacket
Alright let me start by saying I HATE Glee. I think it is the greatest piece of shit on TV and the true proof of the shit the American public can get glued to. When my girlfriend makes me watch it, it kind of makes me want to break-up with her. The only good thing on the show is Mathew Morrison. When I first saw him in the show the first thing I saw was Hank Pym. He would be perfect for the part of the geek and the super hero.

Bruce Campbell as Howard the Duck
This is a joke alright. I don't actually want to see him anywhere near a CMB, but if they ever did reboot the character I think Campbell would be great for it. His voice and attitude is great for the role. I didn't think the Howard the Duck was that horrible. I mean it's pretty bad, but I've seen much worse(Dragonball Evolution).

Isla Fisher as Patsy Walker/Hellcat
The girl is very pretty and very talented. She shines in horrible movies and could play the bad ass girl part of Hellcat(I've said bad ass in like every description lol). She could pull of Hellcat without a doubt.

Casey Afflek as Marc Spector/Moon Knight
Fan favorite, I say, why not?

Ali Larter as Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel
Many people have picked her for the role. I think I had it first from HAWK if I'm, not mistaken.

Matt Long as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
The kids a really good TV actor that would shine as Peter Parker. I originally had Jonathan Bennett but I think Matt Long is much better suited for the role.

So that's it. I hope you enjoyed the cast as much as I enjoyed...something...I don't know I just wanted to say something nice. Comment/Thumbs up/Bitch below!

50/50 on this cast. Loving Strange/Hulk/Surfer/Prof. X/Cage/Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. Never would have though of Gary Oldman as Strange...but I'm loving it! He's one of my favorite actors. Hate Namor/Namorita/Daredevil and Spidey.

Interesting choices for Doctor Strange. I read on IMDB that some dude threw in Christian Bale as the Sorcerer Supreme, you're not alone. But we'll have to wait until Christopher Nolan's "Batman" universe becomes irrelevant.

Not sure I should get behind Jason Behr. The movies he was in, he got criticized for his performances. I could see Jonathan Rhys-Meyers or Joseph Fiennes play Namor.

Matt Damon does have the height and the birthplace nailed down for Black Knight - in some parts - but he's a tad too high profile for the role. I hear Luke Evans is favored.

Hmm, Piper Perabo's a solid-gold actress, but I couldn't see her play a brick shithouse like Valkyrie. Why not go with Katee Sackhoff, since someone else did around here.

I could probably see how Namorita's hard to cast. And Mandy Moore was recommended in a few. But she might not go back to blond anytime soon. One fan cast I saw Rachel Nichols.

I could see Mark Wahlberg play Hawkeye.

I dunno if they're gonna recast Professor X. Unless that rumor that Patrick Stewart's gonna leave the franchise (BIG MISTAKE!). But I enjoy Liam Neeson, and so does everyone else.

Interesting choice for Nighthawk. I'm not sure how Mike is cast as Bullseye, I haven't seen the dude play any psychopaths. It's the big freakin' smile, apparently.

I'd love to see White play Luke Cage. Even though he's 6 inches shorter than Cage in the comics, in his 40's, and notorious for his karate skills, White FTW. Besides, Henry Simmons, 6'4" stats aside, doesn't seem like a guy who'd flatten a dude's face, rather a romantic interest.

You know, Jason Statham was rumored to play Daredevil at one point as soon as a reboot was offered. BUT, can he do an American accent? If not, look into Michael C. Hall and Misha Collins.

I love Wade Williams in "Prison Break". And once you see him in "Beer League" as a prison warden, he has a Brooklyn accent which he could use as the Thing.

Howard the Duck isn't all that relevant anymore. I haven't heard jack about the character, even if a special edition came out a while back. But Bruce Campbell's a funny mother****er, so let's try him out.

Isla Fisher's a tad too tiny. Last I read, Patsy Walker is 5'8. My choices would be Amanda Righetti, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, or Danneel Harris.

Okay, alot of people suggest Casey Affleck as Moon Knight? Sadly, HELL NO. Dude's a bit of a shrimp and seems more at home as the everyman. But if you want a good choice, Goran Visnjic's my choice. He's as tall as Marc Spector, and has a gravely voice.

Who can argue with Ali Larter as Ms. Marvel? Who?

Dude, since they're rebooting "Spider-Man" and focusing on his high school years, Matt Long wouldn't be the ideal choice. Man's gonna be 30 this year.

I definitely like most of them, with a few exceptions like Luke Cage and Hawkeye, and the rest are nicely done, but Statham as DD just killed it for me :P

Oldman as Strange is damn interesting, I'll admit that much ;)

@Starsapphire-Those videos are always so funny lol.

@gambitAceofSpades-Thanks man, Wahlberg is one of my favorite choices I have up there.

@DanielThomasRandKai-Thanks man. You havent heard of Gary Oldman for Doctor Strange? I think people have said it before. I knew people would be iffy on those choices.

@RoadDogXXIVM-Thanks for the in depth anaylisis man. I always apreciate when people take the time do it. I can see your arguments. Doctor Strange movie will come out after Bale is done with Batman so he could do it.

Yeah Damon is a bit too high profile for a role like this, but he could do it.

I don't know much about Namorita and the stuff I saw her in I didn't really like. So I just went with what others said.

Statham could work on the accent or keep it. Works either way for me. Michael C. Hall is my second choice.

I agree with what you say about Spider-Man, but the guy looks pretty young. And people like Ian Sommerhalder for Dick grayson even though that guys 30 and still plays High School roles.

Thanks man ;)

@InTylerWeTrust-Staham could do it man. He's a pretty good actor, but I know you hate him. I think White and Wahlberg could pull off Hawkeye and Cage. They're both good actors with similar attitudes to these characters.

@1chris-Dude I hope the rights revert back to Marvel soon so we can have a Civil War movie. But it wont happen for a while. Hopefully in our lifetime.

LOL, Bruce Campbell would make a great Howard The Duck.
Ryden
Ryden - 5/9/2010, 9:20 AM
Really can't see Bale as Doc Strange, HELL NO to Behr as Namor, he can't act to save himself, Jonathan Rhys Meyers all the way. statham as DDD is just...I don't know...DDD isn't a cockney hard man who can't act!!! LOL. The rest isn't too bad though, I love the Howard the Duck choice!!
MikeZ
MikeZ - 5/9/2010, 9:32 AM

He's done? Nah, they just confirmed that the third Batman movies comes out in July 20, 2012. Didn't you hear the news.

RYDEN @ BEHR can't act but MEYERS can WTF?????

Do you even watch TUDORS dude, the guy is a sh1Te actor, lets the whole series down!

BEHR owns NAMOR!

; D
Rhys
Rhys - 5/9/2010, 1:37 PM
@ LEEE,

I agree with ryden. Behr is a douche, but Meyers would OWN the role! There isn't a better choice out there!
Batmanknight
Batmanknight - 5/9/2010, 7:27 PM
@LEE777-Dude Oldman would be great as Doctor Strange, but I know your not a fan of Bale so I understand. How could you not like Liam for Proffesor X. The guy is perfect. I can see the dislike for Statham though.

@JeffBrideges-Thanks man!

@Ryden-I think with a bit of make-up or prosthetic Bale could look like Strange. I could see him putting himself into the role. I'm kind of thinking about taking back the Behr pick. It's widely unpopular. I also like Eric Bana. Thanks for the comment man

@RoadDogXXIV-Yeah I know he's doing another one, but by the time this movie or a Doctor Strange movie goes into production, he'll be done with Batman.

@AnilRickly-I hate Meyers as an actor. He was part of what made From Paris with Love horrible. Jo Fieness could pull of Doctor Strange. I think Piper could pull off the super heroin look. I picked Damon because he's a solid actor with a lot of fighting experience which is what Black Knight needs. I didn't want to cast Warren Worthington, because I don't think he would mesh well with the rest of the bad ass heroes.

@DanielThomasRandKai-Meyers is a tad too young and inexperienced for the role. I think Eric Bana would be better now.
DDD
DDD - 5/10/2010, 1:46 AM
Bale would be better as Strange!
Oldman is too slight to play dashing
Dr. Strange. Dr. Strange is kinda
the James Bond of Sorcerers! lol

Jason Stathan is not and will never
be Daredevil material! Matt Murdock is
an American handsome lawyer with a
thick head of wavy Red hair! Jason
Stathan is not ANY of these! lol

He can barely do a British Cockney
accent and it's his real accent! lol

The rest of the cast is pretty good!
Ryden
Ryden - 5/10/2010, 11:48 AM
@LEEE- Seriously, I don't understand you're hate for Meyers, he's a fantastic actor, Tudors PROVES that. As well as his portrayal of Elvis Presley etc...what's Behr ever done? A bunch of crappy horror films or something? Hardly a great actor.
Batmanknight
Batmanknight - 5/10/2010, 1:33 PM
@DDD-Yeah Bale would be good as a Doctor Strange. He has the right tough and sorcerer look for the role. I thought you would dislike the Daredevil pick, but Statham could work on the accent and act like a lawyer. You got me on hair. Thanks man

@Ryden-I'll give you that Myers was good in Elvis, but besides that he isn't very good. He's ok in Tudors, but I think Cavil is much better in that show. Plus he looks to young and innocent to be an angry king.
