VIDEO GAMES: WB Games Montreal Working On A New DC Game

Just last week we saw the release of the final game in the Batman: Arkham series in Batman: Arkham Knight. Now the developers behind Batman: Arkham Origins are working on a new DC game. Click to check it out.

Just last week the finale to the Batman: Arkham series came out in Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight. Now that the Batman video game series is over, it looks like WB is moving ahead with a new DC game by WB Montreal who developed Batman: Arkham Origins. The sources come from the job listings on the developers site that has several jobs open in help for a  "new IP project for next generation game platforms." The game will be released for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One and will use the Unreal Engine 3 based on the fact in the jobs describtion it states "familiarity with UE3 engine". It's the same graphics engine as the Batman: Arkham series.

WB Montreal's site does state that "We are a studio with dual expertise - A passionate dev team developing DC Comics-focused AAA games that evolve and celebrate the legendary brands of Warner Bros. and a Services group which is an extension of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and works across the entire slate of games to ensure the best possible player experience." It's incredibly likely the next game will be DC related. Rumors are it may be Suicide Squad but I don't think an open world type game would fit the Suicide Squad. What do you think it could be? A Green Arrow game? A Flash game? It has to be a SS game. WB Montreal hinted at it since the end of AO and it's the most logical thing to do. They can use the Harley gameplay mechanics from Knight and maybe use Jason's killing style for Deathstroke (and do it right this time after the piss poor of a "playable character" that he was in Origins).

Rocksteady seem like the ones who'd make a JL game or Superman game. Why did they give Lex a voice in Knight when they could have just kept his LexCorp logo's and call it a day?

They're hiding something.

As for why a Suicide Squad game would be open world, they could do it like how they're doing the movie with the Squad visiting different locations like Belle Reve, Arkham, etc.

IDK @MisterBatfleck to me open world game sounds more like it takes place in a city. Personally I would rather see a Green Arrow or a Flash game from them. They could still use Slade in a Green Arrow game.

I wouldn't mind a Suicide Squad game like how they're doing the new Ghost Recon game. Drop the team in a big open world with multiple ways to carry out missions in different locations.

Please no GREEN arrow. It would just be a poor man's batman with no gadgetry. Flash would be cool but his power set is crazy for a videogame. He couldn't be too powerful. I'd love a green lantern game or question. Teen Titans would be cool or suicide squad

Wasn't a huge fan of Origins but it's intriguing to see what they do on their own, instead of working on a franchise that was already established.

I just want another DC hero to have as good of a game as Bats did.

Like I'm ok with not having another Batman game for a long time. We have 4 great Batman games. I got a Xbox One so in case the previous games doesn't get remaster, I can still play them with backwards capability.

But I would love WBM to do a Green Arrow or Flash game. I really, really want Rocksteady to do Superman. Just imagine if Rocksteady does a great Superman game.

Maybe they will announce something at SDDC and the dual play thing would be awesome and all the different play styles would be awesome and if killer croc or king shark was in it they could be like a brute or something

I'm certain that Rocksteady is doing a Superman game. There were way too many Superman easter eggs and references throughout. Obviously they had Oliver Queen references and the Flash references but even the thugs were referencing Superman and Lex running for president.
I just wish Clancy Brown would have reprised his role as Lex in the voicemail.

Maybe him and Tim Daly might return for the Rocksteady Superman game. Maybe Nathan Fillion can cameo as Hal Jordan.

A Suicide Squad game sounds cool, but I'd prefer a Superman game. Maybe we'll get a sequel to Arkham Origins, that'd be cool too, I thought it was a good game. I really need to get an Xbox One now that Arkham Knight is out.

I have a pitch for a Superman game. Just picture it as Superman Last Son meets Ghostbusters.

Basically Zod escapes the Phantom Zone and figures out a way to open a portal from the Phantom Zone to Metropolis. He does it and you have all these villains escape from the Phantom Zone. Some villains like Faora and Doomsday, others you could make new Superman villains.

Zod and them are take control of Metropolis.

You as Superman must work with Lex and Star Labs to get the city back and put the villains back into the Phantom Zone.

Like I say, Superman meets Ghostbusters. It's a perfect video game idea since all the villains would be about to hurt Superman.

I'd love a Green Arrow game. They could have the first game with Oliver stuck on the island. Maybe in a prison there like in that old Goyer? Script with a bunch of villains there and then escape outside the island and ultimately get out of the island.

@LEVITIKUZ Then at the end it's revealed that Lex knew about the Phantom Zone portal being weak enough to be broken out of and then we see Lex creating his mech suit. We also see him creating Bizzaro like the New 52 and Brainiac making his way toward Earth after detecting the Phantom Zone opening.

I'd enjoy seeing an open world Static Shock game. Getting to play as Static would be great. You could even throw in Icon, Hardware, Rocket & Buck Wild too. The Milestone comic universe is rich and DC needs to do more with it. If not that I'd enjoy a Flash open world game. I think how speed was handled in Infamous: Second Son is the way to go. It felt fast and was fun too. Green Arrow would work also. This version of Green Arrow I could see being more like the comics than the TV show. I'd throw in Black Canary, Arsenal, Mia Dearden (Speedy), Cissie King-Jones (Arrowette) and maybe even Connor Hawk, this way you'd have a great team in the game. Oliver would be the only one you control, it'd be just like the Arkham games. You play as Batman, but the rest of his team exists in the universe.

WB Games Montreal is probably doing the same thing they did with Arkham Origins, giving Rocksteady enough time to work on their next game. Hell, Rocksteady probably started their next DC game a month ago with the script done 2 months ago.

@thor2273 The Superman Returns game was pretty damn close to being a great Superman game, gameplay wise. Movie games are rarely good story, gameplay, and graphics. Story was meh, gameplay was surprisingly good, and graphics were okay.

Geoff Johns confirmed that a Suicide Squad game is in development way back in February 2012. Then in 2013, the Suicide Squad is formed in Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (a game by WB Montreal). I'm willing to bet that this is the new Suicide Squad video game and I bet it will be released in time for the movie in 2016.
