A long time ago after the failure that was
Batman & Robin, WB's was wondering what to do with Batman. Several ideas came up. A Batman vs Superman movie, a
Batman Beyond movie penned by Paul Dini but the 2 that WB's decided on choosing between was Christopher Nolan's
Batman Begins & Darren Aronofsky's
Batman: Year One. Now we all know who WB's picked, I recently found some concept art for Darren Aronofsky's
Batman: Year One.
Now before most of you wonder why WB's didn't pick it, it was mainly due to the fact that it completely changed everything about Batman and really wasn't anything like Year One. The script was penned by Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller (think I know what the problem maybe is). In the script, Bruce Wayne wasn't a billionaire playboy but was homeless, living on the streets of Gotham. Alfred is an African-American mechanic who isn't even called Alfred but instead called Big Al. Also Batman drives a souped up Lincoln Towncar. Also Bruce Wayne gets the idea of Batman because when he beats up wrong-doers down on the streets of Gotham he punches them with a mighty ring on his finger bearing the initials of his father: Thomas Wayne… T-W… which ends up looking like a bat symbol on the foreheads of said criminals… hence The Batman. Aronofsky has said he still wishes to adapt this story into a comic AND/OR eventually make it into a movie.
As much as I would love Aronofsky to direct a Batman film, I think someone needs to hand him
Batman: Earth One or
Court of Owls or something because his ideas aren't great but pretty bad. Not hating on Aronofsky but I'm glad they picked Nolan's
Batman Begins script over this. Nevertheless the concept art for the film actually looks amazing. Here is some concept art of Batman, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and the Batmoblie.
While I'm not a fan of the script for this film, this concept art looks great. Love some of the designs for the Batsuit. Also the Catwoman, Jim Gordon, and some of the Batmoblie designs look great too. Maybe WB's some reconsider him for a rebooted Batman film. Just with a different screenplay one where Bruce is rich and Alfred is a butler. What are your thoughts? Comment below. Peace.
