Is Josh Brolin Now Unlikely For Batman In SUPERMAN/BATMAN; A New Name Rises For The Role Of Batman

With Josh Brolin (Jonah Hex) rumored to be the frontrunner for Batman in Superman/Batman, does that mean he would even do it? Seems it may be unlikely after you hear this. Also if Brolin is out, who is the new name to the list for Batman? Click to find out.

With the announcement of the Superman/Batman movie coming in 2015 from a couple of weeks ago at Comic-Con, many have wondered who will be the next Batman? Many fans had hoped that the rebooted Batman would be a younger Batman that is earlier his career but instead it seems like we may get a more experienced and older Batman. A list of actors who are rumored to play Batman has been revealed. The list included Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, and many others. It is said that Josh Brolin is currently the front runner but it doesn't seem like he will do it. Here is what they say about Josh:

From what I am hearing the frontrunner. Hot choice. If a nasty, edgy, Frank Milleresque bone breaking Batman is what Zack is looking for, well then this is the guy. The only thing that makes me think he won’t do it is because he went through a nasty divorce this year with Superman’s mom Diane Lane. Yes, I know they won’t have scenes together but there is a thing in
pre-production called a table read with the whole cast which could be quite awkward. That and junket/premiere appearances can be awkward as well. I can be totally wrong but who knows.

So even though Josh Brolin is becoming a big fan favorite out of the list of actors who WB's is looking at, he may not do it due to his recent divorce to Ma Kent, Diane Lane. Since it's reported Diane Lane will be back as Ma Kent, it will be kind of awkward for Brolin to be in a film with his ex-wife. Personally Brolin is my pick for Batman out of that list of actors for the role but I can understand him not doing it.

So since Josh Brolin maybe out, who's in? Well the Latino Review is suggesting that Gerald Butler (300) is on the list to be the next to receive the cape and cowl:

Yes, the Spartan King. He’s another dope actor who got the height, presence, acting chops, and is a winstrol cycle away from being a physically imposing macho Batman. The only negative is his accent which my twitter followers have been giving me shit over. Remember though, Butler already worked with Zack in 300 and is coming off a hit Olympus Has Fallen, the movie that murdered White House Down.

So with Brolin may be out, we now have Gerald Butler added to the list. So what are your thoughts on this? Comment below. Peace and remember...

@TheRationalNerd - I'm from the future, from the year 2016.

- Ben Affleck cast as Batman
Everyone hated it, but now they love him (no surprise here)

- Wonder woman will be in the movie

- Gal Gadot cast as Wonder woman
Everyone hated it, but now they love her (no surprises here)

- Movie gets pushed back a year

- Movie gets 29% on Rotten Tomatoes

- Mixed Reaction from audiences

- Huge opening weekend

- Huge drop-off

- Stands to make around $850 - $950 at Box Office world wide (slim chance of a billion)

Butler could do it but if going for older grizzled Bats,Brolin is better.

Butler would make a solid Punisher if Marvel was smart & did a Marvel Knights film series starring Punisher,Daredevil & used Black Widow to show its connected to Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Plus I think Widow would end up sleeping with both DD & Punisher.

MATTTHEW GOODE!!! He looks the part and can act. He can have the subtle wisdom of Batman and he doesn't look as much like Henry Cavill as that one dude from Teen Wolf. Gerard Butler is too idk not Batman-y enough. I wouldn't be bothered by it but he's not who I would have picked

Actually I would choose Ryan Gosselin. Make Batman not just gruff and edgy but he's literall crazy. He saw his parents get shot so now he dresses up like a bat and beats up criminals. That's the Batman I want to see. It should be underplaye but still there, thats why Bruce needs Alfred- to keep him grounded. Go watch Drive and tell me he doesn't seem crazy from the start of the film

How about Eric Bana? He's got the look and shape about him.

Doesn't really say that he's unlikely to get it. LR's merely listing a con to his potentially being interested in the role. He's still apparently the frontrunner otherwise though.

As for whether or not he should get the role, you can do better than Brolin or Gerard Butler.

*First day on set*
*New Batman actor about to walk on to film*
*Christian Bale in Batman suit stops him, screams "I WANT YOU OFF THE SET YOU F**KING PRICK! ARE YOU PROFESSIONAL OR NOT? OOOH GOOOOD FOR YOU! YOU AMATEUR! YOU'RE A NICE GUY, BUT YOU'RE BULLSH**ING AROUND ON SET!""*
*Beats up this new Batman actor*

Funny enough, Brolin's father looked almost exactly like Christian Bale back in the day. I honestly don't want Josh Brolin. Also I think Butler it a little too big to be Batman. All the candidates are missing that look. Bring back Bale. If the script is good enough...I know for a fact that he'll return.

They did a really great job of illustrating Superman's powers in MOS so how is Batman going to kick Supes' ass without Kryptonite?

lol @levi! i can't see butler as batman, i was just starting to see brolin in the role, he really would be like the animated series batman mixed with miller's dkr batman. i still really dislike the idea of anything miller inspired except millers batman year one take on the character for this movie. no all star batman and robin type please!!

it'd be cool if they brought back bale but as a reboot. confusing yes, but then he could play the character differently in some aspects. for example by using his batman begins voice instead of the parodied gargoyle voice. the script could make him more like the comics too. but it will never happen.

Butler can't do an American accent. Or a lack of accent.
Bodwulf
Bodwulf - 8/5/2013, 3:17 PM
I like how Brolin is out of the question due to his accent. Good thing for Cavill they did not use the same criteria! Maybe that is why he can't play Batman now that i think about it. He is not British!
TaoOfTheBatman
TaoOfTheBatman - 8/5/2013, 3:21 PM
i really haven't seen a fan cast or rumored casting that really sounds good. this is truly fan dreaming but what if they cast someone to look the part and played bruce wayne but when he puts on the cowl they got kevin conory to do the voice while the actor focused on the physical performance? if darth vader can be played by david prowse and voiced by james earl jones why can't the same be done with batman? it will never happen but lets be honest when you read batman who's voice do you hear....kevin.

Josh Brolin would be great aswell as Gerard Butler! I could (would) personally want (From the rumored Canidates)

1- Tyler Hoechlin- Id prefer a younger actor (And he can be a seasoned Batman) so he could atleast (Alongside Cavill) rock his own trilogy and a justice leauge trilogy

2- Josh Brolin or Gerard Butler both badass actors and could def rock the cowl...
