Find Out How Lex Luthor Will AGAIN Show Up in MAN OF STEEL - SPOILERS Ahead!

He's been the main villain in almost every Superman movie since the beginning. We had hoped that Superman's infamous foe would NOT appear in Man of Steel, but according to a fanboy who supposedly screened the movie, he does exert some influence in MOS. Follow the jump if you dare.

According to someone who has viewed the film, Lex Luthor does NOT appear in the movie but he is however a presence felt throughout. Similarly as with Norman Osborn in TASM, Lex Luthor is working on an AI formula which may explain what direction the sequel to MOS will go...

He's never shown but he is referenced in the way Norman Osborn is referenced in ASM. They state in the movie that he is working on a new AI that will "revolutionize technology unlike anything Metropolis has ever seen.


Could this be the introduction of Braniac?



And what of the robots Superman will battle?

Yes he does. They slightly resemble the robots from Sucker Punch but look way more realistic and not like cheap CG cartoons like SP. I was sort of let down that they didn't really give him much of a fight and were mainly a "test" from Zod to see if he were truly the son of Jor-El.





So what do ya all think? Lex Luthor developing AI that could possibly lead to him and Brainiac being set up for the sequel...sounds intriguing! Post your thoughts in the usual place!

Yeah, i like the idea of Luthor being mentioned in MOS as developing AI which would lead to him and Brainiac in the sequel.

I love Lex Luthor. My most FAVORITE CB villain of all time!

One other good thing is, this kinda half-way confirms we won't get some deadbeat real-estate Hackman-esque Luthor for the sequel to MOS. This will be the Lex Luthor that is smarter and he KNOWS IT :)

Can't wait to see some mentions of LexCorp!

Having Lex designing Brainiac could be interesting and even make it be a way to bring in the Justice League. That way they have a reason to join up together.

I think it would be cool to see Lex's Warsuit. To make it work in the film they could say Lex Corp will use it as a way for Asteroid mining. The thing WB & DC would have to make sure it does not seem to much like Iron Man though.

Hm...i seriously thought this was a pretty good find. It spoils what Lex is up to in this new franchise AND spoils the villains for the sequel. Hmmm...slow news night i guess no one is online :(

Would be cool to see Doomsday...

Also, I kind of want to see Metallo and Parasite as side villains, like henchmen. Kind of like Rhino will probably be in TASM2.

Yeah, so i guess MOS will be focused more on Kryptonians. The sequel will be more TECHNOLOGY focused thus- Lex Luthor and Brainiac as the villains.

highly doubt that Lex is going to create BRAINIAC, if I was betting on it, I'd say he's making AMAZO, only his version of it and not Professor Ivo, might give Ivo a mention but Lex isn't the sharing type lol

I wanna see Luthor become President in this series - it'd create a great new dynamic to explore in the films. How exactly is Superman supposed to fight the US President and still look like a patriot? It'd certainly shake up his relationship with the public, as he'd be a villain in many of their eyes for fighting against the man they elected to power, but at the same time he'd gain a few followers (namely, the few people who didn't vote for Lex).

That guy posting all those spoilers is full of shit anyway. People need to ask him very specific questions and thdn when you don't hear or see what he says is in the movie he will be exposed...I don't believe his crap. Unless a fishing boat is made of cement and rebar I'm pretty sure he's lying....

Lol true JayJay, I just wonder because Lex is creating AI...to help benefit the city according to MOS.

So he must still be a good guy trying to do good things but will accidentally create a monster. It could go either direction- brainiac, parasite...hmmm

I'm definitely happy they are going that route though. Mere mentions of Lex should suffice the fanboy appetite leading up to the MAIN COURSE :)

Yeah @Jordanstine- The guy in this one definitely seemed to know SPECIFICS. The last dude just said all the obvious stuff we already knew LOL. This guy is listing specifics.

And it sounds exactly how I'd envision this new take on Lex would be- smart, modern, out to help the city but secretly trying to create havoc.

I'd give my left arm and right leg for a president Lex Luthor in this new film series :)

I thought Braniac was either

(a) A supercomputer that followed superman from kyrpton after Brainiac himself refused to alert the people of kyrpton the planet was about to explode.

OR


(b) a hostile alien that after so many battles with superman had to transfer his Consciousness into machines.

Luthor probably knew that the Real-estate Kryptonite is like living in Chernobyl and causes humans to get cancer after too much exposure. He gets to sell suits to all those people in order to live.

Good find. I don't know if I like the idea of Lex creating Braniac. I prefer the version where Braniac is of Kryptonian origins and has vastly superior intellect/collection of data.

I am interested in this AI Lex Luthor is working on to "revolutionize" Metropolis.

MAYBE it is a set up too for Metallo. What better way to revolutionize Metropolis than to revolutionize its Military ESPECIALLY in the wake of an alien invasion from the first film!

But I'm still leaning toward it being Brainiac. Either Lex creates Brainiac OR he will attract Brainiac to Earth. I seem to remember the original script had Lex and Brainiac as the villains of the piece and Brainiac came to Earth because of LexCorp and tried to use LexCorp's technology and heighten it to his level.

Another thing is, this new film will be a more realistic Superman world. Maybe...Nolan and Snyder will try to make Brainiac more realistic too :)

If they strip him of his Kryptonian origins and make him a by-product of Luthor's AI experimentations to help Metropolis, that could definitely be a more realistic take.

I've been saying that implying Luthor/LexCorp's presence in this movie with the capacity of The Amazing Spider-Man OsCorp should be more than enough. I'm really glad to hear this.

I wonder if the "new AI" is Brainiac finding Luthor first (or Luthor finding him) and "sudden new developments from LexCorp" is just rebranded Kryptonian tech.

From their evil alliance.
If Justice League doesn't wanna do Mongul, they should go against Brainiac/Luthor/Amanda Waller. That was the best storyline of the show.

I think Lex will be working on his revolutionary AI and then use some Kryptonian technology found after Zod's invasion and this will create Braniac. That way he still has at least a partially Kryptonian origin.

If they do bring in Brainiac I wonder if it will talk about Kandor. Because if they do you could possibly see Kara Zor El too. Which would change things up with adding Supergirl to the mix.

One thing I like is that it sounds like Lex is finally going to be the Lex we love & hate from the comics.

I would really like to see Jason Isaacs play Lex Luthor. I believe he would give a great performance

People do realize that the inclusion of Lex Luthor in any Superman adaptation is simply inevitable, right? If anything, it's the capacity of his appearance that the makers should play with. I'd like to see Lex as the main villain of future entries, but I don't mind him as a background villain, either. But one way or another, there must be Lex somewhere in it. There's no Superman without a Lex Luthor.

I hope that we finally see the REAL Lex Luthor in the movie. The genius inventor who can challenge Superman with his intellect. Not the land grabbing, smarmy, jerk that we've seen so far. Lex Luthor is dangerous, not campy. Braniac is also a must for a Superman film. There have been way too many Superman films to not have included Braniac by now.
