Possible Directors For The New Batch Of Rumored Star Wars Movies!

Possible Directors For The New Batch Of Rumored Star Wars Movies!

Only yesterday did the rumor mill start reheating up about a new Star Wars Trilogy. Today we have a list of rumored Directors! This list is nice!

This from Marketsaw.com:

"STAR WARS is going to have another trilogy and it will be in 3D. The first supporting piece of outside information comes from AICN, who paradoxically also provided the sole piece of anti-support when they contacted LucasFilm and got an rather emphatic "no" (what did you expect them to say?). In fact, Lucasfilm's Steve Sansweet's response was so over the top you had to know he was covering it up."

"I made it clear that George Lucas would NOT be directing, but rather taking up the producing helm. Who could be directing? My source tells me it will be Spielberg for the first and Coppola potentially for a future movie in the series."

What! Wait a minute. Spielberg and Coppola! Hell Yes. I hope this guy's source checks out.

This rumor started at AICN, who in turned had it squashed when they tried to confirm the rumor by calling Lucasfilm, who, of course, denied any plans for a new Star Wars Trilogy in 3-D.

If this all pans out and has even a little bit of truth to it, how great would that be? Lucas would not be directing! Check! Lucas is only producing! Check! Check! No Jar Jar! Check! Check! Check! In 3-D! Check! Check! Check! Check!

I hope it is episodes 7, 8, and 9. Or back in time to the Sith Wars! Bring it!

@ LEEE: Marvel never promised Moon Knight buddy. They just said they WANT to do it.

Anyway I have always said that they absolutely need to do a post Return of The Jedi movie series.

But I truly truly do believe that old hog neck just needs to pass her on to someone else. He should provide the basic story and executive produce, and then let someone else cast, direct, and write.

I hope this is all rumours. No offence to all you Star Wars fans, but after the Phantom Menace, I dont need to see anymore rubbish like that. There will never be movies like the original three made ever again. They still remain the some of the best movies ever

Great! If he lets someone else write it too he may be on to something...can't see filming the expanded universe without Harrison Ford, though

I cant see episodes 7-9 happening. Its been covered in the books. And have ye seen Carrie Fisher? She is on very strong meds and has aged as a result. It wont happen.
But I could see a Knights of the Old Republic series, sure.

@ dancing monkey:

Your probably right but I have always had this beleif that it can be done. They need to begin with the premise that they are going to make an effort to recapture what was so great about the originals. If they did that, and hired the world's best writers they absolutely could make something as good. Or even surpass it.

Of course those are huge ifs

It can't be true, there were only 6 episodes to the whole Star Wars story of course I'd be willing to watch if they do the story of Darth Vader's ruthless campaign to crush all rebel resistance prior to episode four and after episode 3

This was pretty much inevitable. How could they not continue to milk such a lucrative property as Star Wars? I would only be interested if they continued the story, though. I don't care what happened in between movies, I know how it frickin' ends. Give me some new content, dammit!
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 12/10/2009, 9:02 AM
DANCING-THING IS IT WAS A WHOLE STORY AND IT WAS TOO LARGE TO TELL SO HE TOOK THE BEST PART AND GAVE US THE OLDSCHOOL STARWARS WICH I THINK HE CHOSE THE RIGHT PEICES..I KNOW IT DIDNT LIVE UP TO WHAT PEOPLE WANTED OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST TELLING THE STORY THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD HAD IT BEEN CHOSEN, BUT ITS AN ENTIRE LINE OF STORIES.

Uh, I don't think Spielburg is much of an improvement over Lucas. They are butt-buddies btw and Burg churns out the same kiddie poo as Lucas. So we are still going to have some Jar Jars, somewhere.

GUNSMITH-- Dude he is! It would be cool for him to play an older Cap somewhere down the line.

Ewoks, C-3PO (sometimes), Jar-Jar and my personal most hated, Xero the Hut.

If this is true, it could be redemption time. The most critical question remains... who the fk is writing it?!

Betty - hahaha maybe not quite as bad. Stevie can still direct. I only hope the two together don't go into Indy 4 mode. Then we're all fked.

DarthMulder

Hahahahhah Old Hog Neck gets me every time! Priceless.

DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 12/10/2009, 9:15 AM
The Beard did originally plan for the whole thing to be 9 movies. They were going to be Luke's life as a Jedi and a showdown with the Emperor. Like Gunsmith, said he took some of the bigger plot points and moved them up in the timeline. Originally, Leia wasn't supposed to be his sister.

airbeyonder18 - 12/10/2009, 9:17 AM
I would like to think it would be 7,8,and 9 episodes but that could be a little stretch. I think there is enough storytelling that could be done before episode 1.
I would love to see a Sith Wars, that would be a phenomenal trilogy.

I've never read George say he intended there to be nine movies. The post ROTJ era has ben fully detailed by novels and such from days after to many many years later. Trust me some of that crap is far worse than anything from the PT. Like Han's evil twin cousin. Not Joking.

There are some highlights like the Thrawn Trilogy, but even that has its problems. Force canceling creatures, Luuke Skywalker (Luke's Clone). Done right and leaving out the few bad ides it could be awesome but would require a whole new cast of course.

I'd much rather see the Sith War, but again that has some kinna off stuff in it. I think a new SW trilogy is just whishful thinking on some people part, me included.

Speilberg wanted to direct ROTJ but could not do to the directors guild at the time. George said no to him during the PT. Coppala and Lucas go back a long way. Those two choices are the only credible thing in the story imo. But we can always wish.

Yeah, the series needs new blood that is creative and talented enough to be able to tap into that old magic. Yet innovative enough to make you, hmmm, idk, empathetic to the characters?

Is that too much to ask?
