Cool news and I loved Avatar but my god James Cameron comes up with the most awful unoriginal names ever! The Polyphemus moons? really? Well hopefully I won't have to cringe over the word 'unobtanium' in the sequel.

He stole alot of element's from other movies..Second need's to be original idea..And don't wear out avatar.. u don't need a sequel to Avatar..

@Anyone: Anybody played the avatar ps3 game yet? And is it any good?

Ranger14 - 2/15/2010, 2:31 PM
DylansMyDog@ what SHHH said. ;-) There wasn't much of anything original in the story line of Avatar. I give Cameron great props for the visuals and effects. He brought new and original technology to the big screen. Money in their pocket is the only reason to have a sequel. If they can come up with a story that is more original, I could end up liking it much more than the first. I just expected more from 14 years of making the first movie.

Kudos to the kids!

@ Tea @ rofl me to me to. i still cant believe the first one is the highest grossing movie of all time. dont get me wrong it LOOKED fantastic but the story was meh. and there was some stuff i could have done without like why the hell did the giant robot at the end have a huge knife!!! it just seemed kinda corny.

I want to see that sniveling Corp. Exec (too forgettable a character to remember his name) come back and totally own all the Na'Smurfs with his new, gigantic, twirling mustache. That'd be pretty sweet, I've got to admit :)

It really does work better as a stand alone story, and that's coming from someone who thought it was only decent. But of course, they're going to milk this franchise for all it's worth and make a bunch of sequels that all make a bajillion, million, monopoly money dollars at the box office.

Actually, when I saw the movie, I saw the makings of a sequel. They let that civilian guy go back to earth (the one that wanted to kill all the Navi). I bet that they're going to come back with more firepower, probably space-based weapons?
blankofthedead
blankofthedead - 2/15/2010, 4:42 PM
@tyler- Agreed, i really love the success its having, and i think its a really cool movie, but i think the cost to make it is still in their heads, and since they still have all this groundwork and animation done, they want to milk it.. but I think with that in mind, Cameron gives us no reason not to trust that he's going to do it right and good

there's nothing wrong with milking a good concept! especially when audiences ask for it!!

I mean we alsmost all think it was a good movie.
we are only troubled with a good sequel-plot!
and I think the same as pwoon...... wouldn,t you go back, if you had nothing to loose, and you know now your enemy's strength and weakness??

you could start with bombarding from outer space.... and than you have a plot.... and exciting to see how they are going to cope with that?? or an alien race.... fine by me!!

and a lot of you guys said, that the story wasn't great!! so why do you bother about the sequel-story-line????

and I admit...... for me is a very strong story-line in this genre not the most important thing! It shouldn't be very weak.......but strong....???
parascythe

probably the exiles of pandora went to the other moon of polyphemus insteaed of going home...to get some rocks...so that they could go back to pandora and throw the rocks back at the na'vis because the rocks on the other moon of pandora are like kryptonites to the na'vis...maybe the other moon has a giant coconut palm tree which rest on a precious rock twice the price higher than pandora..and the creatures there are colored green and loves to eat pizza...and always shouts "cowabonga" whenever they go to war...

I'm a little curious about the sequel myself. I actually thought that the original was pretty well made as far as CGI itself is concerned.
