Cris Pine Confirms Green Lantern Negotiations

Cris Pine Confirms Green Lantern Negotiations

There have been loads of speculation to who will bear the most powerful ring in the galaxy and become our favorite Intergalactic Cop, Hal Jordan. Last week it was reported Cris Pine was, and then was not offered the role. Today's news is that Cris Pine himself confirms only negotiations have begun.

Nothing official from the studio but Cris Pine himself has confirmed that only negotiations have taken place, No one is officially signed. Cris goes on to say: “No, I had a meeting with [casting director] Pam Dixon and [executive producer] Donald De Line, but a meeting was all it was,” Pine told MTV News. “I have not been offered squat. I do not have the part and haven't read a script.”

Others rumored for the part are yet to be discovered stars such as Jon Hamm, Nathan Fillion and Sam Worthington. However we can strike one name of off this list Sam Worthington, as Sam will be busy fighting over sized Scorpions for the next few months in Clash of The Titans. Which could very well push Sam into the A list Actor category.

Out of the above list I hope Pine gets the role. Pine looks the part and has the acting chops to turn in a quality performance. Pine is rumored as not a fan of the source material. That fact will make a few fan boys upset but what we need to pay attention to is who will actually land the role. If the actor who gets the part also gets the character and turns in a good performance, then I can forgive that actor for not loving the comics.

Cris Pine I think would be a really really good choice! I love Nathan Fillion but i just can't see him as Green Lantern. Personally I prefer the John Stewart Green Lantern but I have nothing against Hal Jordan. Cris Pine isn't necessarily an A list actor (yet) so it'd be nice to have him as Lantern.

My problem with Mr. Pine is this..... I want to see actresses and actors show some true depth in their life not just piss-in-wind youthful determination. I want my Sarah Pezini to be late thirties and my Hall Jordan to be the same. I cant really get out what i mean to say right now but i really want to see this age bracket represent our heroes.... cuz these people really get more done that the rest of us. I want to show that respect. Lets be honest the young are not very heroic are they.

I choose Tricia Helfer as the Witch Blade. Tried to put a picture in but its not taking. She was In Battlestar Galactica. She just gotta boob job and she is so tall and sexy and she got a beleivable age on her side too. I still wanna see Jessica beil dressed down as the witchblade so i am torn. I wanna pour syrup over her and then film every drop from two inches as it runs down her body!

nathan fillion definitely should get his own cbm-franchise... but green lantern don't really fit (but not worse than chris pinero).

you guys, any idea for a role for fillion that would fit his personality/character/archetype?

Pine isnt that bad. He was awesome in Smokin Aces. He's a great character actor and thats what comic book movie stars need to be. Thats the bottom line. Downey Jr. is the same thing, just like Bale. From Iron Man to Sherlock Holmes and from Batman to John Connor. In this case, Captain Kirk to Hal Jordan. This would work just fine... AS LONG AS THEY KEEP IT SERIOUS.

If anything, this means the movies at least under way , and that alone deserves a HOOP LA!!!

I say it should be either Nathan Fillion or David Boreanaz. Hal is an older man and even was when he received the ring. He had been a pilot for awhile.

Pine is the way to go here, after Star Trek he will be a megastar, like it or not it's a brilliant casting decision to get him signed up since they are already ok'ing a Star Trek sequel. This will be a good movie to separate him from being typecast as Kirk.

Give the role to Pine already. By the end of the year he's going to be a household name thanks to "Star Trek", therefore "Green Lantern" will be an excellent follow up.

It's no big deal if an actor isnt a fan of this or that comic book. Saying that they arent a fan has negative connotations. They just havent been exposed to it yet. They'll end up loving it in the end.

Tricia, wow. Visually, she make a good black widow.

Star Trek is going to be amazing and Cris Pine is gonna be the next new star. He really is the best choice out there for Hal Jordan

I think Jon Hamm would make a good sinestro. Or one of the guys they were sayin should be a dragon ball villain. Sorry, dont know enough about it to remember which villain or the actor. He had a long, weird, face. great help i know.

Casting Chris Pine is a sign that this movie is moving in all the wrong directions...

Hal Jordan should be older, or at least played by someone with a more mature aura, not some abercrombie model.

I always thought it would be cool to see this movie take place in the 60s. That it would'nt have worked with the Batman and Spiderman franchises, but I think it could be an excellent background for Green Lantern. After all, Hal is one of the superheroes that's really kept continuity with his origins (well, for the most part).

But Chris Pine just doesn't have the demeanor. All I can think of when I see a picture of him is "douchebag."

Yea I agree with 2leftarms Hal Jordan should be older atleast 30-35 fit 6'0 or so medium build and SMART. I just cant see a 20 something year old kid weilding the most powerful weapon in the universe. Its like that 25yr.old douchbag that got fired playing policeman in Texas(houston texan player held for a traciff ticket while mother law dies in hospital)...having the badge and gun was too much power for him to weild. Chris Pine if thats who we're getting lets hope he gets good material and a supporting cast and all goes well.

They're choice of Pine can't be any worse than Brandon Routh as Superman. When they cast Superman Returns, they weren't looking for a Superman, they were looking for a Christopher Reeves look-a-like and they got it. Brandon Routh was and is not Superman.

Cris Pine, if given the role, will do a good a job and besides, they can make a couple sequels and the Justice League movie or whatever. If he was 35, then they'd have to spit all the Lantern movies out fast.
