Ron Perlman Talks Hellboy And The Hobbit

Check out what Perlman has to say about another Hellboy film with or without Del Toro, and comments regarding Del Toro's next big project, The Hobbit.
When asked if he would do another Hellboy film with or without Director Guillermo del Toro, Ron had this to say:

"I would never do Hellboy without, at least, Guillermo’s blessing. He’d have to at least have written it. I know he has no time to direct another movie for five years because he’s doing two Hobbit movies, but if he said, “Yes, I have the script for Hellboy 3, and this is my hand-picked director and, even though I can't be there, I'll oversee it and look at the dailies,” then of course I would do it! But, I would never contemplate doing Hellboy, unless Guillermo was integral.

On whether or not Perlman will have a role in The Hobbit, again working for Del Toro, Perlman states Del Toro is "a guy who loves the surprise, the element of surprise. I didn't realize the whole seven years he was fighting for me for Hellboy that he was doing it. He just did that all on his own on the side. He didn't want to bring me into it. You know, the terror of trying to sell Ron Perlman for an $80 million movie. What he's doing with The Hobbit he's certainly not letting me in on. I wouldn't be surprised either way, but I don't have any news for you. I don't know whether there's anything in it for me. If there is, you know, that will be my pleasure. I'll be the first one there."

Ron Perlman is one of the most talented actor's in Hollywood these days. He has been making Movies and TV series for the past 30 years. With a huge fan base and a few prestigious awards, Ron Perlman will only bring quality to almost any project he touches.

Spilox - 4/22/2009, 8:57 AM
I AGREE THAT IF HE DOES HELLBOY THREE, DELTOO HAS TO SCRIPT IT AND OVERLOOK IT..BUT WITH A FULL UP SCHEDUAL LIKE HIS, THAT WOULD BE OVERKILL. SADLY HELLBOY THREE MAY NOT COME TO BEING, 2012 IS NEAR AND ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ACTUAL APOCOLYPSE..SO OH WELL.
GUNSMITH - 4/22/2009, 9:10 AM

tyko450 - 4/22/2009, 9:28 AM
Who cares?
DarkAvengers - 4/22/2009, 9:31 AM
This is bad guys, studios don't care who does it, just that it is done. We might see a Hellboy without Pearlman, which would mean we would have to give them... dare I say it... HELL!
Thorverine - 4/22/2009, 10:09 AM
Holy motherf*cking jesus christ! I had no idea that Ron was the Beast! I used to watch that show as a kid! He IS Hellboy, there could not have been a better pick for that role!
Howlett04 - 4/22/2009, 11:05 AM
uhhhh hell boy to was not that good, it just did not have the heart that hellboy had and
nick cage for hellboys horns
darthstern - 4/22/2009, 12:23 PM
darthstern - I hear what your saying. HB1 did have that extra ingredient that you can't really name, "heart" as you put it, is as good as any attempt I've heard. But I thought HB2 was a good movie. Visually it was stunning, Luke Goss was great and the original cast more than lived up to the 1st.

Are you Nic Cage by any chance? You need to get an agent and find work like any other actor!
Howlett04 - 4/22/2009, 12:34 PM
You beat me to it @ SPLIOX @ HELL YA!!! Seriously? You guys didn't know he was the BEAST????? I love HELLBOY! Only thing wrong with HB 2 was Luke 'BROS' Goss and the ending lol! : D The rest of it was great!!! ; ) Bring it on! HELLBOY 3! Though i reckon this would be a great weekly live series, an HELL Ron would do it!
LEEE777 - 4/22/2009, 1:07 PM
IN MY BOOK, (I Love Ron Perlman btw) Ron was and always will be 'The Beast' (and linda hamilton will always be 'The Beauty'). You Rock Ron!!!
Jojo Risin - 4/22/2009, 2:03 PM
Ron Pearlman rocks. Everything he does turns to gold.
Juggernaut - 4/22/2009, 2:49 PM
Is it me, or does ol' RON look horny in that pic?? Heh heh okay i'll stop : D
LEEE777 - 4/22/2009, 3:21 PM
darthstern--Ha! nick cage for hellboys horns

@Howlett04-- I dont think he's Nick Cage. He has a totally different accent than Nick Cage. Perlman is the tits.

I always enjoy genuine sincerity from an actor/actress. I can remember him scattered throughout miscelaneous films over my lifetime and I always remembered him and enjoyed his presence, even when it was seemingly typecast as a hard ass alot, I still loved it. If any of you have played the newish Turok game for 360, Pearlman voices one of the main characters, and the game is so much better for it.
TheMyth - 4/22/2009, 6:27 PM
No man Guillermo must close the hellboy trilogy!!!!
007440 - 4/22/2009, 7:26 PM
Exactly! I can wait 5 years, for Del Toro to close the HELLBOY trilogy, HIS WAY! :)
SpiderMan209 - 4/22/2009, 7:38 PM
if god of war will be made into film i want pearlman to play the role...i just remember him play a viking lord in the movie outlander...

@juggernaut-correction, everything pearlman touches turns into pearl...
parascythe - 4/22/2009, 7:51 PM
Not a big fan of Del Toro. Adapted Hellboy into something far from the greatness of the comic (with part 2, part one was allright). Mignola went along with it just cause he was so excited that his comic was being made a movie. Pan's Labarinth was kinda cool tho.
Killian - 4/22/2009, 7:51 PM
sounds great!..
Minotauro - 4/22/2009, 10:43 PM
Paul should be Beorn!!
TheSoulEater - 4/22/2009, 11:21 PM
Whos Paul?..But Ron should be Beorn deffo! Who else couls he play from the Hobbit? The only other characters are dwarves, a hobbit, a wizard and Gollum. Unless he plays the Orc chief or something...
Rorschach01 - 4/23/2009, 2:33 AM
I always loved beorn and i was sad to find he was absent in the LotR trliogy. I bet he would done alot of damage (SPOILER!:
as a bear, or 'were-bear' I guess you would call it).
Jojo Risin - 4/23/2009, 6:12 AM
I could definitely see Perlman as Beorn.
comicb00kguy - 4/23/2009, 7:23 AM
Beorn is a perfect fit for Ron I think he would be an amazing cast the only other character I could see him possibly playing is the Bard but I would much rather see him as Beorn.
LastSon1027 - 4/23/2009, 10:45 AM
By the way how dope is Ron in Sons of Anarchy?!
Dub0ner - 4/23/2009, 1:16 PM
Ron should do the voice of Smaug.

That is his character in The Hobbit... at least that's what I envision.
BillyBlack - 4/23/2009, 2:59 PM
Ron = Beorn
parascythe - 4/23/2009, 7:38 PM
He's alright. Wouldn't consider him an astounding actor on that last paragraph.
