Harold Ramis Confirms No One Has Signed On Yet For Ghostbusters 3

Egon tells us we have verbal confirmation from the old team of Ghostbusters but no one has officially signed on to appear in the long awaited sequel.

Harold Ramis was asked what the currant status is on the upcoming Ghostbusters 3 movie:

"I wrote the story for the new movie with them, and Dan and I've been consulting. We're just waiting to see a first draft and where we are," Ramis told us, although he's very optimistic it will happen with Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson returning as well. "Everyone says they'll do it, they've all said they'll do it. No one has signed anything yet--we haven't signed anything either--but there's the spirit of willingness in the air."

No one is signed yet, so what. These guys have been around Hollywood for a long while, I am sure they know how to work the system. This is all about creating buzz for the movie. Ghostbusters 3 would make each of the original team a few million easy. It's just a matter of time before we have news of signed deals for the original members to come back. If not, then lets see an entirely different team hit the big screen busting Slimer up.

They will all be a part of it. I do not see why any of the originals wouldn't want to do it.

I, for one, hope that they do "pass the torch" to a new lineup. The actors are WAY too old to be running around fighting monsters/ghosts/otherworld entities! lol

I say a good casting, and the original lineup showing the way in some capacity could work, and add some much needed life to a new series of films!
(*DISCLAIMER: Before you freak out, I'm referring to the fact that we haven't seen a new installment for over two decades.)

Here are my choices for the new Ghostbusters lineup:

-Paul Rudd
-Sarah Silverman
-Mos Def
-Rainn Wilson
-John Cho

(Let me know what you think.)

Also, I think that the idea of using the children of the original lineup would make it interesting too... Perhaps Paull Rudd could play Oscar Barrett (Dana's son), Mos Def could play Winstone's son, etc., etc.

See now, you got ramis and dan on board. Bill wouldn't say know since he pretty much always says yes. And well Hudson would have to ponder this for a long long time... "Hmmmm... work, or no work... money, or no money... Hmmmm".

I say have the ol cast runing the show but a new crew suit up with:

Amy Adams
Jonah Hill
Daryl Mitchell
and Paul Rudd!!!

Adamant- Silverman acts like a severed foot striken with gangrene!!! And Mos Def doesn't have the talent required for a token Black Guy. Be kind Rewind ring any bells??? He sucked ass!!! And Rain Wilson is just retard material.... "The Rocker"??? Please... Cudos on John Cho though :))

ironknight27 - 6/9/2009, 11:55 AM
Anyone from that line-up you have Adamant would be alright with me especially Paul Rudd.

adamant877: cool :)... except for Sarah Silverman. I find her irritating. Gets on my nerves like Chevy Chase & Steve Martin. I dont think they are funny.

Shaman: I tried to keep with the concept that most of the Busters would be in the scientific/paranormal field. The idea for Rainn Wilson struck me when they were talking about the writer(s) coming on board from the Office.
(P.S. About Mos Def, I actually think the guys has a lot of talent. You can't hold "Be Kind, Rewind" against him, that movie made even Jack Black intolerable to watch!)

KeepItReal: Sarah Silverman is NUTS!... But if you gave her a chance, I think she could tone it down enough to play a tough-as-balls supergenius.

Mos Def could pull in the "scared as a little girl" character for comedic relief, Paul Rudd is obvious, and John Cho could be seen as the token "smart asian kid".

Plus, with Silverman, Mos Def, and Rudd (especially), you could go with the angle that they are offspring of the original Busters.

ironknight27 - 6/9/2009, 12:12 PM
I could see Rudd being Murry's smart ass son.

ironknight27: I know, right! I would write Venkman and Barret's characters into an eventual marriage, and have Oscar his adopted son. Smart-Assery ensues! lol
(I guess it's nature vs nurture, but noone could argue that being raised by Venkman wouldn't turn you into an egotistical smart-ass!) ;-)

ironknight27 - 6/9/2009, 12:19 PM
I forgot about Oscar, that would make more sense to have Oscar as Ghostbuster.

The only original I'm worried about coming back is Bill Murray. He has a thing for art films as of late and has seemeed to step away from comedy.

God, i remember that one Leee..it was a farce.

Shaman i havnt seen Be Kind Rewind but Mos Def is a seriously good actor! Check out The Woodsman, 16 Blocks or even Hitchhikers. Maybe he just had on off movie with Be Kind if he really was a s bad as you say. Rain Wilson is great in The Office but im pretty sure he would just retread his character from that in Ghostbusters. I think Sarah Silvermans show is very funny but i dont know about her doing a coherent movie, even if its a comedy like Ghostbusters. she suits the mentalness of her show. Paul Rudd is a must have i think. Jonah Hill could work. After seeing James Franco in Pineapple Express i would say he would be good in something like this too. They seem to want a female in there. Megan Fox!(jk)..emmm, id say Isla Fisher could bring the funny and sexy.

If they go with EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS, then they should get KENAN THOMPSON to play ROLAND! This Dude cracks me up! Heck, get him to play a GHOSTBUSTER period! :)

Peter Segal

Russel Brand (Maybe)

Jonah "Fat Ass" Hill

Shaman - 6/9/2009, 1:04 PM
Yeah Roar, he was pretty bad in that but adamant877 does have a point in saying that EVERYBODY in it sucked.

adamant877- Silverman had been given a solid role to play in School of Rock and she sucked at it. That's why i say she can't act. And Rainn would just stand out from that croud. If you keep Def, Rudd and Cho in there, AMY ADAMS or ISLA FISHER should be the chick of the team. Jonah "Fat Ass" Hill (as Dark Avengers put it LOL) would be the "nerd".

LEEE- That cartoon was the shit!!! FILMATION had it all back then!!! I think i actually had my first boner with She-Ra... or was it JEM???
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/9/2009, 1:22 PM
Well i ve never seen her act in a movie, but that show really brings the funny

Hellmont
Hellmont - 6/9/2009, 1:27 PM
I'm sorry sarah silvermen is terrible...

Sean William Scott could easily pull off a venkmam like role
Jonah Hill as the Ray Stantz

Zachary Quinto as the brain Egon

Common as the token black guy
Hellmont
Hellmont - 6/9/2009, 1:32 PM
Be Kind Rewind is a god awful movie. Its not awful necessarily because of the acting but because the whole movie in itself is doomed by the storyline, script these elements are so terrible that they never allow the film to get off the ground because the movie ended up bieng one dumb-ass skit after another. That movie is nauseatingly bad.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/9/2009, 1:54 PM
Well, the thing about Sean William Scott is, hes an annoying retard with no eyes. He plays an annoying retard with no eyes in every movie. If annoying eyeless retards are what you want to see in movies, hes your go too guy!

Shaman
Shaman - 6/9/2009, 1:54 PM
I'll have to agree Hellmont "That movie is nauseatingly bad". And Common is a bit too old compared to the rest you mentionned. Am i the only one here that feels Daryl Mitchell's character in Galaxy Quest would be IDEAL for Ghostbusters???

Well looky what the cat dragged in... Supermike right on top of me?!?!? But Roar, i feel Sean Willaim Scott was very good in The Rundown (BEST ACTION MOVIE EVER MADE). In anything else though... yeah he sucked. Decent in Bullet proof monk however.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/9/2009, 2:11 PM
Is The Rundown the one with the Rock? Over here it was called Welcome To The Jungle! It was ok, i did enjoy the action scenes but Scott was just as doucherific as always. Didnt see Monk. He was bearable in Role Models, but mainly because Rudd was so funny and it was well written. he still did his poxy Stifler bit which he is incapable of not doing!
adamant877
adamant877 - 6/9/2009, 2:11 PM
Shaman: I like Amy Adams and Isla Fisher, I just thought I would try not to stereotype the female lead by making her some kind of cookie cutter beauty queen. I mean, how believable would it be to hear Amy Adams talking about quantum mechanics, and then start sucking on a lollipop... Nevermind, cast Amy Adams. IMMEDIATELY!
JeremyBentham
JeremyBentham - 6/9/2009, 2:16 PM
scott was so lame in bullet proof monk, and he wasnt that great in the rundown either. he's better at comedies to be sure

Shaman
Shaman - 6/9/2009, 2:28 PM
Rorschach01- Yeah, it's with the Rock. But, why the renaming??? I don't see the purpose of it since it's in the same language. But he had a great complicity with The Rock which made him more bearable. He had a similar one with Chow Yun Fat but not as good. In his comedies, i just find him retarded to a point where he tries to be more retarded than the rest of the retards he hangs with. To much retardation for me. He was over the top in American Wedding.

adamant877- Well Isla would be more of a cookie but AMY could easily pass as the brains. But who says the girl in the team has to be the one that talks about quantum mechanics??? Couldn't it be the fat nerd played by Jonah Hill?? :P

thegreek- I'd call She-Ra in a heart beat!!!
